Hi! If you’ve followed us from another platform, welcome! And if you’re new here, let us introduce ourselves—we’re NRDC, a group of lawyers, advocates, and policy experts working to defend the planet and its people from climate and public health crises.
Manatees, sea turtles, monarch butterflies, and many more are at risk of extinction under the Trump administration’s plan to roll back protections for imperiled species. We’ll continue to defend the Endangered Species Act and all the wildlife that depend on it for survival.
Extinctions ahead? Species that may get less protection in Trump plan
The Trump administration has moved to roll back protections under the Endangered Species Act. See what animals advocacy groups say could be at risk.

For decades, the New York–New Jersey Harbor was a dumping ground for sewage and industrial waste. After years of intensive cleanup, locals are enjoying the waterway again—but a new pipeline is threatening to reverse that progress.
The Fight Against This NYC Area Pipeline Is Not Over
Constructing the offshore NESE pipeline would pollute waterways and come with higher energy bills for New Yorkers.

The Trump administration seeks to end protections for species that closely resemble endangered ones. The protections prevent cases of mistaken identity, and their removal could aid illegal wildlife traffickers, thwart habitat recovery, and push imperiled species closer to extinction.
The Trump Administration Wants to Take Away Protections for Endangered Species Look-Alikes
Here’s why the move risks bringing bog turtles, Miami blue butterflies, pallid sturgeons, and Florida panthers closer to extinction.

Wasted food is a lot of what’s in our landfills, but states can lead efforts to keep food on people’s plates. Local food waste diversion policies can help nourish people, grow local economies, and create more compost to build healthier soil.

Just last year, the EPA strengthened its own soot standard that would protect public health and clean air for millions of Americans. But now, President Trump’s EPA is siding with corporate polluters, trying to get rid of this vital rule.

Trump’s EPA is eliminating limits on dangerous air pollution, threatening our right to breathe clean air. Scientists warn this decision would allow increases in toxic soot, one of the deadliest forms of pollution.

The EPA approved another new pesticide that is a PFAS, also known as “forever chemicals,” which cause serious health and environmental harm. Farmers can now spray these chemicals on vegetables, allowing them to enter our bodies through the food we eat.
