Challenge of the day: How do you write a magical ritual that's both beautiful and terrifying? Found myself holding my breath as Elara spoke the words. When your own scenes give you chills... #WritingLife #DarkFantasy #IndieAuthor #WritingChallenge #AuthorLife #FantasyWriter #WritingProcess
What we allow to go unchallenged today becomes the law of tomorrow. So speak. Question. Read. Remember. And most of all—refuse to be coded for silence.

About how you don’t have to be chosen, powerful, or perfect to change the world. You just have to show up.
If this story made you uncomfortable, good. If it made you think, even better.
But this book is not just about what we could lose. It’s about what we can fight for. It’s about how truth survives in hidden corners. About how resistance begins with a single voice refusing to be quiet.
We see people convinced that freedom is dangerous, that history should be rewritten, that silence is safety.
So I wrote a world where all of that has already happened—because the only thing more dangerous than fearing the future is pretending it can’t happen here.
We live in a time when facts are treated like opinions and cruelty is rebranded as strength. Politicians openly flirt with authoritarian ideals, erasing hard-won progress in the name of “order.” We see surveillance expanding. Dissent shrinking. Identity criminalized.
Protest rebranded as treason. Neighbors taught to fear each other.
I didn’t write this book to be dramatic. I wrote it because so many of the things I imagined… are no longer unimaginable.
This story began as fiction. I wish it had stayed that way.
Coded for Silence was born from a gnawing fear—the kind that settles in when you watch history repeat itself, not in sweeping declarations, but in slow, careful edits. Books challenged, then banned. Truth replaced by slogans.
Seventy years after a tyrant rose to power, the New Republic of Halix controls everything — your thoughts, your meals, your memories.
Juno was raised to stay silent. But silence can become rebellion.

Excerpt from my WIP "Coded For Silence". A dystopian fantasy set in 2103, based on today's U.S. political climate. It will be out by the end of the year.

Yet another ICE impersonator caught. How many are they not catching?

As @MarshaBlackburn @SenJohnson & Sexton try to protect masked unidentified vigilantes with legislation— we should be banning this dangerous insanity instead.
Hi. I feel a little out of place. I wrote my first book at the ripe old age of 51. And my second is just coming out on May 31. My WIP is the 3rd in the series. Obviously I've not done this as long as others, but I do love it. You can follow me at amazon.com/author/authorhmjones
I must have them blocked as well. So whoever it is must deserve it.
My mom still gives me $100 for my birthday every year, with explicit instructions not to spend it on anyone but myself. I'm 52. 😂
