For those who are curious about his background, he's basically an undead noble that wakes up 700 years after his death, and is struggling to keep up.
He is a bit of a silly snob goose noble, and he desperetly wants to fit in with the other youngster adventurers 👴🏼

So I suggest you give it a read, because behind that classic western RPG premise there are a ton of non-western cultural references you will find quite inspiring.

(Also, the author said she is a big fan of Pathfinder and Baldur's Gate video games, and even made custom portraits so she's dope)

While at first you may think Dungeon Meshi to be derivative from western TTRPGs like D&D, it is actually very much inspired by video games like Wizardry! and Legend of Grimrock.
This is why the kobolds in this manga are not lizard-like, and more of the canine sort!
