It's my birthday, and my brand new single (double?) is now available for download and streaming! I covered some songs!
Listen to SND OF THE SMR, recorded by me and mixed and mastered by my friend enid!

Tell Me (Red Vox) - youtu.be/kkmz00UQsmM
Raise Up Your Bat (Deltarune) - youtu.be/6_5BI7dJKGc
on one hand, i could see that as a valid excuse for a few people. on the other hand, this is just the same generational culture war fighting we've had for decades, and its still as stupid as it was before
I've seen Markiplier E, I've seen Badger Badger Badger, I've seen MAD comics. get a grip
seeing people say shit about how they're worried for the future generations because they say "6 7"

bro is this your first fucking meme? grow up

had to spend nearly $300 on a new battery for the car that i spent all my money replacing just two months ago 🙇‍♀️ cash.app/$skysometric
he's also a very subdued "stupid" character which was oddly refreshing. he's aloof but not the writers malicious force stand-in.

idk this movie has a lot of great things going for it, like the kids actually feeling like kids or the minor detail about Norman's relation to the antagonist. it's great!
I also love that the whole "I'm gonna tell my boyfriend about this!" gag people love to reference from the movie doesn't provide the full context: the guy *never* shows interest in this girl, not once. he never leads her on or anything, he just simply does not care.
watching Coraline and Paranorman this evening. they still look fucking amazing. they're such good movies.
I still don't like sniper, but to say he can hold down the point 100% of the time *is* a lie. he is prone to sudden death by airborne pyros as the rest of us
this is all ignoring the fact that one could argue that snipers don't actually have an infinite skill cap! you don't see sniper in 6s competitive lobbies, you don't see him in passtime, etc. if he's so good, why isn't he an instant pick?

probably because infinity is a long climb up, I guess
compared to characters like soldier or demo, which have *extremely high* skill ceilings for the TF2 cast, but still relatively finite ceilings, sniper is just... better at killing in a lot of common gameplay scenarios
to be clear, this is not a bullet proof argument. TF2 snipers were... generally considered well balanced prior to the recent bot crisis. there were complaints, and I would argue many of them valid and prescient, but they were not common.
consider the following... what is the average skill of a player using a character with infinite skill ceiling?

the answer is still infinity

compare that to characters with finite skill ceilings and you can immediately see a problem
I think the want for a really high skill ceiling for gameplay is admirable because gamers love being skilled at stuff. hell, people in general love doing it! improving at a craft or hobby is rewarding.

the problem comes with the "infinite" bit.
I think there's an interesting conversation to be had about the trappings of infinite skill ceilings in games

yes I'm thinking about TF2 sniper again, leave me alone
im becoming caber-pilled this weapon is so fun
terminal is two windows down

Alec (the guy in the video) makes some incredibly fascinating content and I partially blame him for me being confident in wiring up that street sign in my room

if you need some basic support i will be glad to help. linux mint and ubuntu are good starter linux OSs.
things *clearly* move slower on an NES with too many sprites, how the hell do you accurately emulate that? youre no longer aligned to a frame rate, so vsync shouldnt be used if that can happen. plus, youre running on a computer thats orders of magnitude faster, how do you know when to slow down?
we're lucky that many retro consoles that are emulated generally use the refresh rate of their region's crts as a baseline performance target, 60 or 50 hertz. this lines up well with modern displays because nothing ever changes. but what do you do if a console cant keep up?
