No judgements, but you don’t want to be a sugar baby or a trad wife. You want universal basic income and affordable housing.

Overthrowing capitalism is mental health work.

I keep seeing random flashes of “NO they’re PETIT BOURGEOISIE” being argued about various arguments, and look, I’m begging you to understand that we have to update our understanding of Marx for a modern economy.

On World AIDS Day, let me remind you that you likely know someone who is HIV-positive even if you don’t know it.

It can be confusing to keep track of all the lawsuits against Ticketmaster. There are at least four!
1)DOJ antitrust case (could lead to a breakup)
2)FTC BOTS act case (probably just big fines)
3)Heckman class action (faces steeper odds)
4)Swiftie class action (same)

The way athletes love to relive their glory games. This had some interesting insight into all the racism he experienced. #booksky #alleniverson

I do think it’s important to discuss politics, especially in today’s climate, and especially if you hold a lot of privileges.
“I don’t discuss politics, religion or my personal decisions.”

That sentence usually makes for calmer conversations lol.

One-liners to politely and firmly tell people to mind their own business:

- I’m happy with my decisions.
- It’s ok that you don’t understand.
- I’m not interested in discussing this.
- My choices here don’t impact you.
- I have about 2 minutes left in this convo and then i’m going to excuse myself.

It's that time of year when you might have to spend time around family and other people that aren't good for your mental health.

Let me remind you: You don't have to. Let them be uncomfortable. Say no. Stay home. Or do anything else that better serves you.

No "holiday" is worth your mental health.

Things that are none of your business:

- why people don’t drink
- if/why people aren’t having kids or getting married
- how people’s bodies have changed
- how much people eat
- what people are wearing

How does nobody think it’s weird that reporters are allowed in the locker room, with cameras, when athletes are changing.

This. It’s not “good vibes only”. It’s making space for the beautiful range of human emotions and experiences. #spiritchat
A6: Gratitude doesn’t mean that you whitewash the uncomfortable feelings with platitudes. Life is messy with pain and joy. A gratitude practice helps us tune into the whispers of joy when suffering is yelling at us, trying to get our full attention. #spiritchat
November 23, 2025 at 2:49 PM
So dismissive. Instead of hearing and validating someone’s feelings, you’re telling them how they should feel.

People really don’t know how to deal with uncomfortable situations so they say ridiculously unhelpful things like this. #spiritchat
Q6. Their advice of ‘just be grateful that...’ ~ a life situation/time where this was NOT really helpful... ?! What did you learn? #Spiritchat
November 23, 2025 at 2:47 PM
Gratitude is a learned practice, and part of that includes owning the privileges you carry and becoming clear on what you take for granted. It’s a political practice as much as a personal one. #spiritchat

I do a daily gratitude page. When my brain knows it will need to recall things im thankful for at the end of the night, it does a better time of recognizing and remembering them, like a muscle that’s been strengthened with use. #spiritchat
Q4. To remain grateful, even grow gratitude... some practices or resources that have helped you... Do share. #Spiritchat

I’m watching The Sound of Music for the first time since I was a kid and I definitely understand the anti-fascist storyline now.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever been to a conference that underdelivered 🙋🏽 Or, worse, was a place of poor planning, countless microaggressions, and underwhelming speakers. It doesn’t have to be that way, tho!

Shout out to the librarian who recommended this.

A mystery about the disappearance of two girls, but really a story about our intertwining relationships, the mistreatment of indigenous folks everywhere, and how loss impacts a whole community. #booksky

Surviving capitalism is an act of creativity.

Navigating microaggressions, making ends meet, and building systems of care & support where there are none all require a type of creativity we don't even acknowledge.

Along this line, being a "morning person" only matters if you subscribe to the structuring of a traditional 40-hour, 9-5 work week. Otherwise, give yourself the freedom to work with, not against, your body's natural rhythms and be productive whenever feels good to you.
November 13, 2025 at 7:32 PM
“Full time” is a social construct.

40 hours a week is an arbitrary number and not actually representative of any kind of success, productivity, or status.

The sooner we understand this, the sooner we can start building true work-life balance.

You can’t challenge systems of harm while seeking validation from them at the same time.
