Hi! I don't really post here, but if you want to follow what I do post on my Mastodon, you can try following @chrisd.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy instead, or as well, to get my (fairly few) Mastodon posts here on BSky.

If we're lucky, it'll even still be working by the time you give it a try!
As a reminder, I post via @chrisd.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy and use this bsky mostly to reply. However, this one's important.

In memory of my late husband Emerson, who was a former Polari judge, and the debacle of this year's Polari Prize nominations:

I have a strong opinion on a piece of recent public news, with which my family is connected, that is what you would probably expect it to be and which you may be able to guess.

I am sleeping on the matter before I decide whether expressing it would contribute to the public discourse or not.

Emerson died two and a half years ago today.

At the Pride society, he would occasionally explain Section 28 and everyone would be glad it was history. Parts of the latest DfE guidance (paras 69, 72 and watch out for 74 and what's missing from 27) are a horrible step in the wrong direction.

This guidance mandates that children are taught that they have different legal rights based on their biological sex.

So much for kicking misogyny out of classrooms.

@thatjohn.bsky.social OOOOAH NOOOOAH

As busy as you are, I would also recommend the (very restrained and reasoned) crayoning videos at youtube.com/@berniciap on the matter, especially for lots of lovely local dialect.

@theupfront.media Finally listened to ep 1 of 40kft and loved it. I blared the metaphorical airhorn for the passing reference to MME as a longtime T-T-Teessider in exile in E6. Your MME correspondent points you to teesvalley-ca.gov.uk/news/autonom... - pretty wonky, even for gadgetbahn fans like me.

Thinking of starting a web site where you upload six-second videos but they all have to include one-liner jokes. It’d be called Tim Vine.
