Omer Bartov in the New York Times grounds his argument by comparing Israel to the German genocide in Namibia, which he explicitly treats as a settler-colonial case—thereby importing that framework into his analysis of Zionism. Raz Segal likewise frames Israel as an “ongoing Nakba,” a prolonged or “protracted genocide” beginning in 1948, and his argument depends directly on settler-colonial readings of Israeli statehood. Francesca Albanese makes the link even more explicit: in her UN reports, she describes genocide as “inherent” to settler-colonialism, turning Israel’s very existence into presumptive evidence of genocidal intent.
