Demko improves to 8-5-0 this season. Pretty impressive considering all that has gone on with #Canucks this year.

Makes the article below even more relevant.
Do the #Canucks have a Thatcher Demko problem in their rebuild plan?

Is he too good for their own best interests?

The #Canucks badly need some star talent in their system.

The best way to get that star talent is to pick in the top three.

They seem destined to do so, but could Demko's incredible play keep them out of the basement?

See the reply below for a breakdown of three options👇

This was not the week to go up against Puka in fantasy

Small sample size but #Canucks are NHL's best with just 23.4 shots against per game in December.

Canucks are also 5th in Corsi% so far this month.

Too bad (or good?) they're scoring a pathetic 1.86 goals per game, which means they've gone just 3-4 despite the improvements.

Can #Canucks truly I bottom out with a healthy Demko?

Not sure what the answer is but I could see Demko willing their pick to later in top 10.

I know the answer isn't seeing Demko go superhuman and thinking that you can accelerate the retool. I hope the Canucks know that too.

Zeev Buium is having a great debut so far.

- 1 goal
- 1 assist
- Leads Canucks in ice-time
- #Canucks leading Devils 11-1 in Buium's 5-on-5 mins
- 94.47 xGF%

It's only the second period.

One winner in the Quinn Hughes trade I haven't seen mentioned yet: hockey fans.

With #Canucks lack of playoffs and him missing 4 Nations last year, Hughes hasn't played a ton of consequential games.

Fans should now finally get to see his talent in games that matter.

The defining moment of this #Canucks era and management regime (barring something wild) will be picking Miller over Horvat.

Lots can be traced back to that moment.
December 13, 2025 at 3:36 AM
#Canucks have let go of half these players (plus the coach who was named an all-star) in under two years.

If they enter a full rebuild, it's very possible we see Demko, Boeser, or Pettersson leave too.

Does the Western Conference have four of the NHL's five best teams?

- Colorado
- Vegas
- Dallas

and now Minnesota?

The West is LOADED compared to the East.

Trade Elias Pettersson? Trade Thatcher Demko?

Fire Allvin and Rutherford? Keep them around?

If the #Canucks decide to rebuild, what does that look like?

I broke down what might happen. Click the link in the reply to read all about it.

What would a #Canucks rebuild even look like?

Management has fought hard against it, but if they have a change of mind, here's my 5 step plan: open.substack.com/pub/noahstra...

The #Canucks are on pace for just 10 home wins this season.

That would tie the worst mark in franchise history, set during the 1994-95 season when they played just 48 total games.

#Canucks defensive breakdowns continue and they're down 1-0 early against the Buffalo Sabres.

Dahlin is left wide open and crushes this one. Two Canucks players on Benson below the goal line.

#Canucks young players showed up in a big way last night.

I'm following the progress of seven key skaters all season long on my Substack.

This was written before last night but still worth a read -> noahstrang.substack.com/p/the-super-...

How has Braeden Cootes looked after returning to the WHL?

How would you characterize Willander's progress?

I answered those #Canucks questions and more in my latest post. Find the link in the reply below.

#Canucks goalie Kevin Lankinen has six quality starts in 15 total starts (40%) so far this season.

That's the lowest mark of his career and below the league average of 54%.

t's time for the #Canucks to stress test Aatu Räty.

His advanced numbers look solid in slightly sheltered minutes but he's played over 10 mins in just one of past 6 games.

You need Cs? Let's see what you have here. Give him some more minutes and see if the numbers hold up.

How can Canada get the most from Connor McDavid in the Olympics?

They rotated through a ton of wingers at the 4 Nations.

Could one of Bedard or Celebrini be the high hockey IQ linemate he needs?

Do you bring Zach Hyman as "McDavid Insurance"?

Lots of options to consider.

Feel free to disregard for small sample size, but it's fun to get some positive talking points:

Petey played 3:01 against MacKinnon at 5vs5 in the first period and shot attempts were 4-0 for #Canucks during those minutes.
December 3, 2025 at 2:55 AM
#Canucks Pettersson/Kane/Lekkerimäki line had a solid period.
