On this day in 1981, R.E.M. played The Station in Carrboro, North Carolina, for a fourth and final time. It had been the venue for their first gig outside of Georgia the previous year. It closed in 2023, having been in business since the 1970s.

I expect Belichick to fully embrace his Carrboro roots when he returns. By spring we’ll see him hula-hooping at Weaver St. and showing up for every Tofu Tuesday at Carrburritos.
