Having already taken a number of special journeys on the line over the 18 months before official opening, yesterday was our first proper 'passenger trip' to Ashington.

And, my word - if ever the "if you build it, they will come" adage held true, the images speak for themselves!

Today is a very special day!

After more than a 60 year gap since the 2nd of November 1964, the first official Passenger trains commenced running again on the Northumberland line.

Thrilled to hear confirmation yesterday that the Northumberland Line will officially open to passengers on 15th December.

It's been a long campaign, including groups such as #SenRug and the actions of one of our own Directors over 19 years!

Well done all involved!

It's fitting that our first 'proper' Social Media post, should be to share our first train journey on the new Northumberland Line.

Today we are able to experience the route early, on a Route Learning Service.

We look forward to official services commencing soon!
