For the record I thank all the local grocery stores for donating us literally a ton of romaine lettuce bc all he did was eat it and poop. He was a cutie and is still alive to this day so it seems. Story over 😊

Anyway for those of you who are familiar with the National Aquarium in Baltimore I was a blue shirt. Husbandry and we were the best. Chessie was permanently tagged by us and always has been a stubborn boy, he kept coming back for years🥰

Yup I went out to catch him- def a manatee. I’ll never forget the moment, after he’d spent rubbing his back on boats, you could see the boats rock, he told us he was there….after relentless voicing from that SeaWorld “expert” sent to catch him I whispered to my buddy holding the net with me….
So here we were…should we track down this so called manatee? He was hiding out off Queenstown all warm off a waste water effluent and the waters around this stubborn one had gotten too cold for him to get to Florida safely. We investigated and swept in….
Our department was like no way it must be a dolphin but ass rubbing? Then the reports of a pizza pan fluke came in. Then we took it seriously. No lie lol. BTW the rubbing on the bottom of boats is an attempt to get rid of ectoparasites
