The Office of the State Comptroller encourages Medicaid providers to self-disclose overpayments. Providers who do so are not charged penalties or interest and may receive extended repayment terms.

In FY 2025, 10 providers self-disclosed and returned $1.8M in total to NJ Medicaid.
My office recovered more than $132 million in Medicaid payments in FY 2025.

That’s an 11% increase over last year.

The firm shaped how contracts were written, priced, and awarded, even while they competed for –and won—some of these multi-million-dollar contracts.

During OSC’s routine review of proposed public procurements, OSC found a for-profit, private company, Conner Strong & Buckelew and its “alter ego,” PERMA, effectively gained control of insurance funds’ public contracting processes.

🔍 Many of OSC's investigations begin with a tip.

Last year, OSC found that the NJ Department of Corrections’ Special Investigations Division failed to adequately investigate alleged abuse of incarcerated people.

While that’s an improvement, OSC called for reforms so that all companies meet safety requirements before transporting students.

My office's report reveals the reality of NJ's lifeguard pension program: it's unfairly burdening certain NJ shore towns.

Six towns face a combined $37M in pension liabilities. Atlantic City alone faces a $21M shortfall.

The State needs to address this 1928 law.

My office's recent report uncovered double-dipping in NJ's lifeguard pension program.

Over half of retired lifeguards are drawing a second state pension.

Double-dipping strains NJ's pension systems and, ultimately, taxpayers.

In 1965, Medicaid began covering vulnerable populations.

Today, it provides healthcare to nearly 2m NJ residents.

With cuts pending, continuing to safeguard its integrity is vital.

My office will continue investigating fraud and abuse—and recovering millions each year.
My office’s report on NJ's mandated lifeguard pension program reveals a striking disparity: a retired lifeguard would receive about $150,000 more in lifetime payments than a retired state employee.
The 1928 law requiring lifeguard pensions for certain NJ towns needs an overhaul.

My office released a report on NJ lifeguard pensions revealing:
🔹 6 towns face $37M liability: Atlantic City, Brigantine, Longport, Margate, Sea Isle City, and Ventnor
🔹6 more likely owe millions
It's time to do away with this unfair, arbitrary pension mandate.
