Apparently MSFT let it slip that OpenAI lost $11B last quarter
The irony is clear: the quest for ultimate automated efficiency may be the factor that drives the next generation of massive, global cloud disruptions.
The risk is not that AI generates bad code, but that it generates plausible, context-aware, but fundamentally flawed code at unprecedented scale.
This creates a "Scaled Vulnerability" problem: An error that would have previously caused a single server to fail can now be globally replicated at the speed of code, leading to cascade
failures like the DNS issue that took down AWS services.
● The human element of peer review and specialized infrastructure expertise is often bypassed in the race for speed. A single, critical vulnerability generated by an AI (ie a flawed DNS configuration or an infinite loop in a deployment script) can be deployed across thousands of accounts in minutes
● If the AI’s training data contains common misconfigurations or flawed security practices (like overly permissive IAM policies or unmanaged dependencies), the AI will replicate and scale these flaws.
The very efficiency of AI is becoming a new risk vector for cloud stability. When AI generates IaC, it does so based on patterns in its massive training data.
This comes as hyperscalers aggressively boast about leveraging AI to generate a significant
portion of their production code and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).

Outage?

Following the back-to-back major outages at Azure and the recurring failures at AWS, the conversation is shifting from human error to systemic fragility.
How was MSFT’s capEx, say compared to Meta’s. Meta’s earnings call was, interesting…
NVDA becomes the first $5T company and Jensen says there’s no AI bubble. I’m old enough to remember the dotcom bubble, and my grandparents had a lot of money in EMC…
