#Folkloresunday Not so much folklore as lost tradition, the Christmas Waites were groups of musicians paid for by the local authority. The Waites would meander through towns & villages playing festive tunes but as the hour got later, the music got rowdier & a sleepy populace often retaliated.

The Golden Age of Horror: Lobby Card signed by Barbara Steele for the Roger Corman directed 'The Pit & The Pendulum' (1961) The film which also stars the wonderful Vincent Price, is noted for its stunning cinematography & gothic set designs. What ever happened to that painting?

December 13th is the feast day of Saint Lucy or Santa Lucia who wore a crown of candles so that she could see where she was going as she distributed food to Christians hiding in roman catacombs. The flaming headdress is still worn in Italy, Sweden & Norway to commemorate St. Lucy.
