Whenever the weight of the world feels crushing, like it does right now, remember those you love. Surround yourself with them and take care of each other.

And remember that as big and crazy as the world is, the world with just your loved ones is small and sane.
I always thought it was weird that the radioactive spider gave him the powers of a spider like sticking to things and sensing danger (apparently) but not the most distinctive power of spinning webs. But I can also see the arg that he needs to be smart enough to invent them.
Web shooters, eh? Quick: what's your opinion on Raimi's organic web shooters versus the traditional "Peter invented this incredible spider web-like substance in the lab that can go toe-to-toe with monsters and cosmic beings, and he keeps the technology all to himself" web shooters?
Related to this: I wish anime filler was set in AUs where we could see the characters in alternate settings, instead of trying to fit in the margins of their main stories. For example: Bleach but Ulquiorra and Ichigo bartend at rival bars in modern downtown Tokyo! Naruto but medieval Europe! etc
A very good discussion. Van's always so insightful. Loved every minute of it.
There's a Corner Gas episode about that! Wait, you've seen Corner Gas, right? The quintessential Canadian small town comedy set in rural Saskatchewan created by Brent Butt?
Sometimes my brain creates a movie for me to enjoy in my dreams. As a treat. Last night's was a mix between a Sinners and a John Wick. First half more Sinners. First half more enjoyable. Second half became too cliche for my liking.
That made me irrationally mad. And I don't get mad at movies.
Nooo, not dear sweet Papa Klopp! Sure he's got some chomping veneers and a demented angry face, but he's an all around standup dude.

It's always the vintage 1940s clown-themed makeup palettes being thrown out :(
Everyone else has the stress dream that they're back in school but there's a test today and they forgot to study. But I never have that. My stress dream is I'm back in school but I didn't look up my classroom locations ahead of time and oh no I'm gonna miss the first day's lectures!
I too wanna look like a bug.
I vividly remember my dad using street Atlas books to navigate on road trips. Pulling over to study the maps and thumbing through the pages of one of these bad boys:
Yesterday was so hectic I completely forgot to post this! Second video is out now, exploring the myriad of ways that films (and all art, really) can make us feel. I discuss the Bay Transformers, I Saw the TV Glow, the Hobbit trilogy, David Lynch movies, and so much more! youtu.be/yCfud11wx0w
You're (probably) watching movies wrong

I'm personally of the "iconic characters get retired when their iconic actors die" mentality. Like retiring jerseys in sports. If you're gonna revisit a franchise, come up with creative ways to avoid showing the dead without recasting or remaking with AI.
OMG this one's so good!
There's gotta be some tone or band of white noise that cleanses the mind, right? Right?! Like how you take a whiff of coffee beans between smelling perfumes to cleanse your palate.
Lights, camera, action gordon.
I spatchcocked a chicken a year and a half ago and put the spine in my freezer "to make stock one day". A year and a half later and I've never once even reached for it.
Like when I asked my brother what he thought a good pen name for me would be, and his response was to send me a list of names he'd asked the meta AI to come up with.

Thanks, bro, thanks for sharing a meaningful human connection with me 🙄
I made a new channel for video essays, but because it's me I couldn't keep it simple. I HAD to get puppetry involved🤦Anyway, 3 months later and here's my first vid about society's overreliance on ends-based ethical theories to justify actions 😊 Hope you like it 😁
