The Mosel? It is not very far, the rivers Ahr and Mosel are both tributaries of the Rhine. The Ahr joins the Rhine about 40km downriver from the Mosel.
Correction, it is spelled Remagen.
No need for volcanic activity to explain this. Climate change due to human impact accounts for it well enough.
That was on October 6, still a bit early for snow. But the overall snow accumulation in that area has also been decreasing over the last decades.
