It is astonishingly ugly. People I once thought were decent are spouting delusional, baseless, vile stuff about what they "know" Mamdani believes and about what he's going to do. In NYC, this has turned into a real "Well, now we all know who we are" election. There'll be no bridging that rift.
I really like how Zohran Mamdani has run a campaign that is so focused on making New York City a safe (including from the fascism of our current federal government) and affordable place for all its residents, and I am really appalled by how racist so much of the opposition to his candidacy has been.

During the Obama administration, Oregon Republicans were convinced the federal black helicopters were coming for them at any moment. Today they’re posting videos of black helicopters over Portland & cheering giddily about it. They hate their senator who is speaking out against the black helicopters.

“Jarmusch’s new film is decidedly understated, accruing its force with a virtuoso’s ability to modulate dramatic notes and switch up perspectives on a theme of homecoming”

Father Mother Sister Brother review: family matters
Jarmusch’s surprise Golden Lion winner blends arch humour and awkwardness in a trio of short-form sibling stories with a bittersweet core.
