Conducting Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde with the @philorch is equal parts exhilarating and heart-wrenching—as only a great opera can do. Rehearsing the Holztrompete solo with Associate Principal Trumpet Jeffrey Curnow was a joyful moment: an example of the spirit this orchestra brings to the piece!

The opening of Salome at the Met is one I’ll remember for the rest of my life. This score means so much to me, and sharing it with this orchestra, on this stage, with this cast… it was a true privilege. Bravi to Elza van den Heever, Peter Mattei, Claus Guth, and the entire incredible cast and team.

We mourn the passing of Pope Francis. His life was a testament to compassion and unity. I’m grateful for the moment I performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra during his 2015 visit to Philadelphia. He championed the dignity of every soul and leaves a legacy of love. May we carry his light forward.
