Redubbing and a really stilted guest cast holds back this week's #StarTrek from being on the same level of The Measure of a Man. This is The Ensigns of Command:

My #LastFourWatched we don’t need to talk about X-Men: Apocalypse, it’s bad. But the Roger Corman horror kick has been fun and I’m surprised A Nightmare on Elm Street has two sequels that are good.

The Price of Snow by: Katharine Armitage: There’s far too much of this story that reads like a Pete McTighe story though often in reverse. The first half is particularly bad with the Doctor basically quoting the “Yet you participate in a society” meme regarding Ace owning a pair of boots. Some of
because there is something to be said here but it’s really mediocre as is. Like the claim is we can’t charge a rich man with feeding people to snow aliens. You can actually, it’s murder. This is set after a point where aliens are known to exist.
corporation/family owns a monopoly. Playing the Doctor as often neutral here doesn’t work and McCoy’s performance reflects that, he sounds bored in the booth as does Aldred. Give this an extra episode and I think Armitage would be allowed to really get into the themes and work out the conclusion
the conclusion also struggles by not examining the system and yet the threat is evil snow that eats people a la The Snowmen but as an explicit idea of capitalism eating people. But then we end the story with the idea that the system is totally fine even though there is the idea that this one

this is just early on. The opening story is good, Alison Winter writes a treasure hunt in the 1920s and it works. It’s very much trying to be a Season 24 style story and that does work but it doesn’t get quite nearly as deep as Winter clearly wants. She’s got two episodes and wants to explore

It’s a big old classic tournament arc from Scott Snyder! Except no it isn’t actually, it looks like DC K.O. is actually going to be a beautiful mess of a tournament arc tying together maybe everything DC has been doing in the last few years? Issue 1 is great.
He's survived worse (I think)

The Last Halloween is nearly over, at least we think (it keeps getting delayed) but the penultimate issue is great right up until the twist that feels a bit out of character but then again there’s one issue left.
What a twist!
