44% of women and girls (aged 15+) in Canada have experienced Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) in their lifetime. Up to 92% of direct physical IPV incidents involve force or pressure to the face, head, and neck, which is likely to result in a brain injury.

It’s #NationalAddictionsAwarenessWeek! Substance use can be common before & after a #TBI.

Clinicians should ✅ integrate substance use goals & interventions into a patient’s TBI rehabilitation plan & ❌ not use substance use as a reason to exclude a patient from rehab.

🧠 Nurse Practitioners are an essential part of care teams. They can make a formal #concussion diagnosis and provide advice on managing concussion symptoms. They can also perform clinical assessments, order tests, and help develop a recovery plan.
