I’m thrilled to report on work I led with Dr. Shawn Hervey-Jumper and Dr. Todd Hollon which shows that we can forecast where glioblastoma will recur even at time of initial resection.

It’s wonderful to see all the work I conducted during my research year @neurosurgucsf.bsky.social come together!

UCSF neurosurgeon @herveyjumper.bsky.social & his @umich.edu colleagues have developed an intraoperative tool called FastGlioma that uses AI to help neurosurgeons see in real-time where tumor cells have infiltrated brain tissue. 🧪 braintumorcenter.ucsf.edu/news/how-ai-...

High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is an incision-less surgical procedure used to treat essential tremor by lesioning the brain pathway involved with tremor generation. @ucsfhealth.bsky.social neurosurgeon @doriswang.bsky.social explains that this leads to lasting tremor reduction.

Great to hear about Ilina Bhaya-Grossman's research in the @changlabucsf.bsky.social last week at the Exploratorium! Her PhD work has focused on how the brain processes word boundaries, which are incredibly difficult to identify in a foreign language. @berkeleyengineer.bsky.social 🧪 🧠🟦

How does your brain turn sound into meaning? Every time we hear someone speak, our brain pulls off a remarkable feat — transforming vibrations in the air into words, sentences, and ideas we instantly understand. Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at how scientists study this question and how curiosity, data, and teamwork come together to reveal the answers.
