Another ticked off for the book. The makers of THE CRUSH (1993) were accused of exploiting the real-life Amy Fisher case, who was on trial for shooting her lover's wife at the same time the movie was being shot (the press dubbed her 'The Long Island Lolita'). The film got into legal hot water, too.
Dollar Tree Freddy or German Techno Michael Myers? Choices, choices.
Popped in my copy of Batman '89 recently and being on VHS made it almost feel like a whole different movie, good stuff

A haiku about my VHS marathon today:

Dust floats in sunbeams.
Analog dreams flicker on.
Time rewinds softly.

Haven't had a working VCR in ages.

Watching:
Avenging Force (1986, Video Treasures)

Ugly picture, buzzy audio, a faded sleeve.

I'm in heaven.
I will need you guys to make it through this movie again because while I'm the biggest Halloween 4 defender I know, I'm also the biggest hater of 5. I cannot stand this film, it in my opinion is the lowest the Halloween franchise ever sunk (excluding the Zombie duology)
I'm so excited for this new book! I'm admittedly not as familiar with the "From Hell" genre so I really need to brush up!

Another four review retrospectives are done for my upcoming book on the From Hell thrillers ('87-'96). I'm going to be speaking with legendary producer Bruce Cohn Curtis in the next couple of days!
Fun, probably not as balls-to-the-wall entertaining as the first sequel but an enjoyable time and far superior to Psycho Cop

New Review: TERROR AT LONDON BRIDGE (1985) ***

"Admittedly, (it) leans more toward MURDER SHE WROTE than FRIDAY THE 13TH. The Ripper’s outfit and hat sometimes give the film a vague sense of the Giallo genre, probably unintentionally."

Any suggestions for the 650th review on Hysteria Lives!? Has to be a slasher (or related) or Giallo or similar. :)

Hysteria Lives! Review Slashback: FADE TO BLACK (1980)

"It’s perhaps fair to say that Vernon Zimmerman’s FADE TO BLACK is something of an anomaly in the canon of early 80s slashers. It is debatable as to whether it is even a slasher movie at all …"

Early access to a new review for obscure Indonesian slasher NIGHT MARKET: HAUNTED HOUSE (2012). "A psycho in an ornate dragon mask, supernatural apparitions, and … fart jokes?"

New Review: THE INTRUDER (1975)

"This bewildering piece of what-the-fuckery from the polyester decade features kung-fu fights, identical twins, and someone tossing coconuts at a killer ... unreleased after distributors were left scratching their heads."
