Perennial reminder that reading comics relies on the intricate interplay between text, context, and visuals and that graphic novels are (very!) real books whose claim to fame include getting millions of kids to LOVE READING. 💫
one thing about working in kids' comics is that you are asked a lot to defend kids' reading choices. do comics have literary value? do they have artistic merit? i want my kids to read real books???
