in other words, AI is inevitable but not in a way AI bros think it is. Technology is most likely will stay but these large AI companies will most likely fail because let's be real who wants an autofill as their friend/co-worker/girlfriend/boyfriend?

This is I think what we're (or at least I am) against.

The actual thing is way smaller and way uglier than it seems. All these companies invested in it because they just believed some scammers and now they try to put it everywhere which is exhausting at this point and I think they'll fail

The main problem is AI bros who's trying to make as much money as possible before people could realize how AI actually works and what it's capable of.

They lie about it and trying to sell it as something SOOO HUGE. They're trying to sell you a one small candy in a huge bag.

She doesn't exist to produce slop or being treated as a source of valuable information.

I don't have much information on what data she was trained on and how ethical it was but she wasn't made to steal other's intellectual property

From all uses of AI I've seen so far, I think Neuro-sama might be the best one or the only good one.

She was made purely for entertainment, she doesn't take anyone's job, she just existing and talking some silly nonsense and bullying her creator.

AI can be used for some minor things, like how we use autofill to make sure we type words correctly but for a little bit more complicated things.

for example, I think AI makes summaries pretty well. I'm just not sure why you want it. It helpful when you don't want to read, I guess 🤷

but does it care if it's true? Absolutely not. It can't think.

Claiming that AI would make you smarter, deal with your problems, make you more creative and etc. is nonsense.

It's like telling that autofill can make you speak language you don't know. This is way beyond it's capabilities

it's more like a next generation of autofill feature. Autofill is trying to predict what you're trying to type and suggest you a few words that most likely used in this situation.

AI does the same thing but on much larger scale. It can generate something that would be readable...

it just can't do what they claim it can do.

What we refer as an AI has no actual intelligence. It's a complicated sorting algorithm that predicts what comes after your input based on data it was trained on and that prediction is an average most likely guess.

Been thinking about it lately, AI as a technology itself is actually not that bad and AI bros are partially right about it being inevitable in a sense that simple LLMs can be made without huge data centers.

What is actually bad about AI is the way it gets promoted and used.

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

When we write or draw porn or erotica, we get banned from having a bank account and our livelihoods get seized even if we give it away for free.

When billionaires steal what we've written or drawn to churn out a slop-approximate of porn, they're allowed to charge for it.
