"Nah!" Today for #inktober with the prompt 'drink', I decided to draw a poster based on the famous and often memed poster by Govorkov. #inktober2025
An ink drawing of a cat political poster based on the anti-alcohol poster of Govorkov from 1956. It features a cat in a suit eating a fish at a table. He is offered a drink by an extended paw holding a glass of cat nip drink. The cat refuses saying "Nah!". Additional tect reads "No nip today. My friends and comrades need me."

For today's #inktober, an anti-fascist sovact poster with some Italian design influence. Shred Fascism! Today's prompt was shredded #inktober2025
An ink drawing in black, white, grey, and red of a cat, anti-fascist propaganda poster. The poster style looks influenced by 1920-1930's design. A large red cat with a cap with a star swipes at a fasci (bundle of sticks and an axe symbolizing fascist movement). The bundle binds are cut open and the bundle and axe are shredded in half and fall off a tall ledge that the cat reaches over. Italic font on an angle reads "Shred Fascism." Drawing by N Nun.

I got a little too ambitious with today's drawing of partisans reviewing an operation in a cellar. I will finish it for tomorrow's or Monday's drawing. Stay tuned! #inktober #inktober2025
An in progress ink drawing of six anthropomorphic cats in a cellar or basement around a table lit by a lantern. The clothing and weapons scattered around room and table suggest WW2 era. It looks like they are reviewing plans for a mission.

SWEEP SCRAPS REAP NAPS - a drawing in the style of early 1920s Lebedev. Today's #inktober drawing for prompt "sweep" #inktober2025
A colour ink drawing in the style of early 1920s drawings by Vladimir Lebedev. A black, blue, and yellow cat sweeps with a colourful broom. A rat runs away in the bottom corner. Stylized text reads: "SWEEP SCRAPS REAP NAPS"

Oh no! So sorry. We had to make a similar decision with our little one a few years ago. It's not easy, especially when you have to say goodbye in a short time.

"Hang in there, comrade!" I don't regret playing on the "Hang in there, baby" poster for today's #inktober #inktober2025 #RedInktober
An ink drawing of three anthropomorphic cats. One hangs onto a rope with both paws, just able to keep its chin above the rope. Two other cats, however, on either side of the cat are giving it a boost. All the cats are smiling suggesting friendliness and joy. Large text at top reads "Hang in there, comrade!," a play on the popular "hang in there, baby" cat poster of the 1970's.

It’s really hard to describe to people who are not artists how survival mode does *not* inspire creativity, as the myth would have us believe. It suppresses creativity as you try to limit every possible risk – and the opportunities that come with them.

It turns out building habits and stuff actually requires not being in survival mode, who knew?!
(Yeah yeah I did)

The final lines are:
"Und der Krieg der jetzt durch die Länder geht
Ist der Krieg gegen dich, Prolet!"

"And the war that sweeps through the countries now,‎
Is the war against you, proletarian!‎"

An original poster design inspired by the 1929 poem, The Secret Deployment, by Erich Weinert, was popularized as a song a few years later.
The #inktober day 6 prompt was pierce. #inktober2025
A black and white ink drawing of a constructivist inspired , cat propaganda poster. A large worker cat yells out with its paws at the sides of its mouth. Circular line patterns emanate from the yelling mouth. A star over the heart of the cat and also over a city is about to be pierced by a bayonet and a stream of bombs. Text reads "The war that sweeps through the countries now is a war against you, proletarian!

"Deer Diary, It has been three days since my encounter with the entity I have come to call 'the stalker.' In my quiet study, warm by the fire, in my dreams...it hunts. I have located symbols in the woods, I believe hold the clue..." #inktober day 5 word was 'deer' #intober2025
An ink drawing of a deer in a suit sitting at a desk in a study writing in a diary. There is a strange symbol drawn on one page of the diary suggesting the deer is writing about something occult.

"My mind raced to ascertain what diluvian beast was thrashing about in the flood waters of the shelled dyke. Fevered imaginings could not prepare me for the horrors that rose from the murk." Full on horror for #inktober day 4 with prompt "murky". #inktober2025
An ink drawing of a cat WW1 soldier standing knee deep in swampy water, gripping a rifle. The cat looks on in terror as undead soldiers rise from the swamp all around him.

This cat world version is a more generalized critique of expropriation experienced. Times have certainly changed.
nathannun.bsky.social
The our world context and influence for this drawing is the 1926 referendum on the expropriation of royal property in Germany, and specifically, it is conceptually and compositionally similar to a referendum ad by the KPD.

What better way to handle the Inktober day 3 prompt of "crown" than an antimonarchist sovcat cartoon from the post great war period. #inktober #inktober2025
A political cartoon drawn in ink entitled Expropriation in large fraktur font. On one side stands a cat king holding his crown out like a pauper. Text under him reads "daily pension 1670 CM. King pleads poverty." To the right are three cats, a veteran with a missing leg on crutches, a worker, and a mother cat with kitten. Below them reads "Under 2.35 wages and pension. Everything expropriated"

Thanks. That's awesome. Yeah, I'm still kinda everywhere on socials but bluesky experience is better than most.

Thank you Cats of Yore. Here's a sampling of my artwork. (Seems bluesky is not cooperating with posting images via mobile for me so just one today). You can find more at etsy.com/shop/nathannunart

For #Inktober day 1 with the prompt mustache, I attempted a constructivist ad for Lion Coop Mustache, Whisker, and Mane Cream. This fine fellow look very modern. #inktober2025
An ink drawing in the style of an early 20th century, constructivist ad. It shows a stylized cat made of geometric shapes with very fancy mustache. Text reads Lion Coop Mustache, Whisker and Mane Cream

October is nearly here and that means getting ready for Inktober. But what to draw? Follow the "official" prompt list? Use some other list? Use a random generated prompt?

As an artist, it is awesome. I get the sense the gallery world seems to prefer artists to stick to the same theme, media, and style because recognition/artist as brand.
