Prehistoric portrait series - Edmontosaurus v01

Any #Krita or #Blender artists who've made the switch from #Windows to #Linux? I'm considering the move - any recommendations?
Love this piece! So many great Brian Franczak illustrations like this one in the little Audubon "Familiar Dinosaurs" guide from 1993. Still really fun to look at!
"Tyrant Lizard King"? Cool.

Tyrannical kings ruling the USA? Nope.
After innovative research in 2020 involving 3D models of the skeleton, the new Spinophorosaurus reconstruction may have implications for understanding the life posture of other dinosaurs as well.

The discovery and study of this sauropod illustrate the scientific process; this dinosaur was first thought to have spikes on its tail, and the low posture often seen in traditional depictions of sauropods.
Spinophorosaurus
Middle Jurassic, 167 Ma, Africa

I made this using #Blender, my own photos, and digital painting.

I made a custom #watch! This was a fun little project - I ordered parts (dial, hands, case, #Seiko #NH35 movement), modified the dial to feature #prehistoric marine life (ammonites, shark, plesiosaur), & assembled it. A challenge & far from perfect, but it works!

Tyrannosaurus
Late Cretaceous, North America

I had the great opportunity to work on this image for the Mace Brown Museum of Natural History at the College of Charleston, SC, with guidance from paleontologist Dr. Scott Persons. Made in 2021.

Marasuchus lilloensis
Argentina, Ladinian Age of the Middle Triassic (Chañares Formation)

A small dinosauromorph archosaur, Marasuchus lived in the shadows of larger animals and frequent volcanic activity.

An #illustration I made in 2015 for Earth Archives (link below).

The display is speculative, but several modern birds have similar structures. I made this #illustration for Earth Archives in 2015:
