It wasn’t a lie and it was way too clear her actions towards him have proven that. Unlike with Joker, it was clear she wasn’t honest, but due to fearing she’d have no protection against her husband she did it to survive.

There were moments, she’d talk to him. Even when he had his own personal fallouts. She did listen to him and spoke honest truths. Even being a willing shoulder he’d lean on, when asked to be his sister she agreed. Yes she’s a terrible liar but due their interactions.
