The money/hour of entertainment is part of the problem here IMHO.

Games take an enormous amount of time to have a complete experience these days. I would actually rather spend $20-30 on movie tickets or books.

The last game I played to completion is Silksong, by the end I just wanted it done.
AAA video games should cost $100 on launch. this would still be extremely cheap for the amount of time and enjoyment you get out of them! But an audience of whiny babies has kept them literally at the same price for *two decades* despite both general inflation *and* sector-specific costs rising

$40-60 was an amount I was used to paying, and was willing to throw away on "maybe this will be awesome," or "I love this developer/this idea"

$70 was the point where I rethought that.
I genuinely think this is a bad idea for the industry. But, hopefully not for whiny baby reasons.

This is anecdotal but I have started to buy far fewer games since they raised the price to $70, and not because I don't have the money.

I often didn't even touch games I bought, no time.

Got to say this is one of those moments I have to respect Stancil's political reads.

I didn't follow the race closely but my initial impression was just 'oh hey he seems cool hope he wins'

I think the desire for an 'outsider' to come in and set everything right is a strong one across the isle.
The credulousness of this site towards Graham Platner is pretty hard to take.
The real turning point is that everyone actually hates right-wing politics and humans are not docile creatures.

Even as there was a concerted effort by elites to surrender the actual people are thankfully stubborn about being stripped of their rights and dignity.
I'm gonna give the the vibe shifters their flowers.

There was a vibe shift. We briefly experienced a sense of what right-wing cultural victory looked like and what it would mean.

If the Trump admin were even minimally competent that feeling might carry through to today.
Remember back in January when all these sage politics-knowers were writing about how there had been a vibe shift and now the resistance was over?

lol. lmao.
While this is true, I suspect the bot farms will be up and running before long.

These incel harassment campaigns are substantially smaller than they appear on the surface.

The real question is whether bluesky will actually moderate as pressure not to increases.
one thing about "big" right wing accounts joining over here is that it quickly becomes apparent they have no idea how to function online without a built in army of incel followers they can sic on people to harass
All the fascist government agencies moving on here is incredibly cringe. But I suspect it's actually quite important

I think it means that with the Nazi doxxing ring and grok-algorithm feed the more forward-thinking Brownshirts see that the writing is on the wall for Twitter.
Guys, chill.

You are crashing out online over how you assume a dog you don't know feels about an owner you have never met, based on clips that are under 30 second in total.
This is a misdiagnosis. Whenever I see this maybe 10% it's misreading, 30% a critic being correct about what the Author is really saying

The remaining 60% is aggressive reframing. The person knows what you mean, disagrees and restates your position in the most uncharitable light possible to 'win.'
so one of the things I’ve started to realize with having a notable following On Here is exactly how much of a reading comprehension problem we have in this country
They will at whatever point the left starts agitating for AI rights.

At the moment playing up their sentience and power helps the bottom line.
That your dog is playing with you is not the own you think it is, because there is no guarantee the dog will forever stay 'almost' biting you or play this way with someone else.

It's just a very stupid series of thoughts all around.
"Unlike a you peasants I'm a dog expert, that 20 second clip is proof that dog fears him unlike this"

*Dog almost bites you*
Once you do that you can't claim that the Court has any authority over the president. Law no longer has a check on power.
We don't even need to get into issues of how it comports to our texts or ethos.

Structurally, the Supreme Court empowered the president to assassinate THEM, then pardon the killers and so long as this was done through the official orders the president cannot be stopped or punished.
Trump vs. US was the final straw imo. You cannot read that ruling and continue believing they have legitimacy. It is not only against the plain text of the constitution, it is anathema to the national ethos. It is offensively, insultingly un-American and they ceded legitimacy by committing that sin.
Like honestly these dudes are relatively light for some of the red-areas I've lived.

When I lived in DC people had lots of body types but it had the highest percentage of extremely fit people I'd ever been.

In new york, it feels like everyone is razor thin.
It's less odd when you realize it's more about the maintenance of fatphobia than about real fitness. Left leaning areas are substantially less obese and have been for a long time.

Right wing influencers show contempt for people less in shape and idolize Tate types to enjoy vicarious status.
it’s odd that the rightwing has been able to monopolize “being fit” as an aesthetic online, even the whitehouse social media has in recent weeks dunked on “fat libs” because the average rightwinger in the united states is usually guys like this
Don’t think these Texas National Guard guys are going to be chasing any immigrants around Chicago on foot
Seriously what are we talking about here.

Fascists love retributive justice and have contempt for mercy.

They also don't see themselves as the villains getting away with it. They see their targets as monsters that have to be put down to protect their own.
Ya'll ever wonder how much our generation's Refusal To Engage With Art For Adults may have helped contribute to the stagnancy of Neoliberalism?
They are implying that it was an orchestrated attack by the government who was taking orders from Miller or someone else ahead of time.
This is the main nub of the 'clanker' discourse.

Techno-fascists currently promotes the sense that AI are humans in some sense because:

A) it helps the bottom line; and
B) they see AI as a perfect slave class. An entity which performs labor at Little expense and without the capacity to complain.
Follow this logic just a little bit further. Is it just a matter of capacity?

If we built a bigger data center would it be capable of being harmed?

If we can model a dog's brain in bits does that mean the computer can be harmed or that dogs actually can't be hurt?
