In addition to tabling this month for @queerzestzinefest.bsky.social I will be doing a virtual panel on healing within the horror genre, with a focus on community catharsis and queer horror. I hope you can join us and participate in the other workshops and events they have going on all month long!

LOVERS LAKE, an illustration I recently finished for Paroxysm Vol 5 coming to Kickstarter October 1st. I've got a short comic and a few other goodies for this anthology so look out for more teasers and our other contributor features soon!
Black and white digital illustration of a siren luring a victim into the lake using a human puppet with its tail. The creature is seen under the water with an open mouth ready to strike. Close up of the victim with the siren puppet whose head and chest are barely above water. Close up of the siren creature.

Really excited to come back to Wilmington in just a few weeks for Stone Soup, so if you’re in the area and want to grab zines/trade, I’ll be there and at 2 more events. Unsure what things will look like event wise for me in the future, but I know I’m not the only one who had to scale back this year.

MystoPress will be returning to Stone Soup Zine Fest August 9th in Wilmington, NC! Presented by the good folks at @milkandhoneycomics.bsky.social be prepared to see some amazing artists and fellow zinesters! I also hope to have a new thing printed by then. Hope to see you there!

A peek at the very first contribution by @artofddraik.bsky.social to Paroxysm Vol 2 (so long ago!) as we gear up for their work in the upcoming Volume 5!

Working on my project for Volume 5 of Paroxysm Horror Anthology (published by @mystopress.bsky.social) and found my notes and storyboards for my first go around in Volume 2: Possession with my experimental comic project, “The Path”, which you should totally read.
Sketchbook pages by Danielle Draik of their comic, “The Path”. Hurried storyboard doodles and notes. Sketchbook pages by Danielle Draik of their comic, “The Path”. Also thank god I'll never have to draw an easel ever again after this comic.

(3/3) It's kind of funny how the bug reveal was initially drawn to be much smaller (more maggoty) & I was nearly done inking that penultimate page before scrapping the whole thing and starting over. I want to draw gorier things in future comics, because inking blood is fun. I hope you dig this one!
mystopress.bsky.social
(2/3) When I say this is prob some of my best work, it's because of how concise I was with visually translating the story. Each beat escalates from page to page and the apprehension of what you'll see with each page turn feels solid. I was closely looking at Junji Ito's work for his pacing.

It's been a while since I've shared a longer form comic from years past on here. "Muse" has to be one of my favorites, featured in Paroxysm Vol 2 back in...2020. Damn. It's kind of a love/hate letter to art school, inspired partly by a horrible rash I had on my hands during that time. (1/3)

Sometimes we grow out of certain motifs or techniques, which imo means we’re growing in our visual vocabulary and in what makes us feel joyful/authentic about our own work. I go through phases like that every few years, so be encouraged about finding new ways to get joy out of your work!

I’ve seen campaigns list them individually but sometimes that can get overwhelming to look at, especially with how small the preview images can be. But I’ve only done them as an add-on item I contact someone about later to figure out which one they want.
