6. We are creators. Our brains are noisy, but it allows us to create art, music or tech solutions that the whole world benefits from.

This isn’t a post to claim only ADHD brains can do these things, but we excel in these areas. So let’s drop the stigma and celebrate the strengths.

#ADHDMonth
5. We are adaptable. The same chemical imbalance that makes long term planning difficult makes us experts at adjusting when things go wrong. When others panic, we pounce. When others flounder, we fly.

/5
4. We are masters in a crisis. Nothing triggers our brains more than the urgent, desperate needs in an emergency. We make great emergency responders or tech support engineers.

/4
2. Our hyper focus can deliver weeks of work in a matter of days, dive deeper down rabbit holes than anybody else, and become SMEs whilst everyone else is still figuring out the basics.

3. We are deeply empathic. And loyal. An ADHD friend/colleague can be the most dedicated person you’ll meet.

1. The constant hunt for stimulation means our brains are literally processing more data at once. This makes us excellent problem solvers. We find connections where others see none, and our abstract thought can solve things others gave up on long ago.

In ADHD awareness month there has been a lot of discussion around the challenges we face and the impact untreated or undiagnosed ADHD can have. And rightly so. But I think we should also be raising awareness of the benefits and awesomeness an ADHD brain can bring.

Such an idiotic statement. Here’s another:

Crazy how nobody got cancer until the ancient Egyptians came along.

Not documenting or labelling something is not the same as it not existing. The Amish likely have ADHD kids that have learned to mask through strict and harsh discipline or ostracism.
Can’t say anything for your own process but certainly here in the UK it’s pretty consistent whoever you are. I say pretty because there’s always the postcode lottery - some NHS trusts are better than others. My experience still needed GP , and 2 assessments, and about 10 forms to complete.
This article real boils my piss. WTF is wrong with this world where people feel so angry that other people get help when needed? Nobody complains when the hyperfocus of an ADHD colleague delivers 3 weeks work in 4 days, or when our unwavering loyalty keeps us working cheaply.
WE’RE NOT “BROKEN”! 🤬
This one cost me £4.50 from Boots. Well, I say me. My wife bought it because I never got round to it despite mentioning it multiple times!
If it will help keep you safely medicated get it ordered before you decide it’s fine because you’ll remember next time! 😬

I have a pill box for exactly this reason. The only hard thinking I need to do is remembering to refill it every week. Other than that it’s in plain site next to the kettle I use multiple times a day, so it’s easy for me to see whether I took them that day or not.
This is actually part of a psychological study that links ADHD to our hunter-gatherer ancestors

The ADHD brain gives us a survival instinct - taking in peripheral data at all times, being “in the moment” , delayed sleep, risk taking etc.
The Hunter-Gatherer ADHD Brain
ADHD may have descended from hunter-gatherer societies as a trait that conferred advantages for a nomadic lifestyle.

The current attack on ADHD and neurodivergence is concerning. The comments from Kemi , other than being wrong, are designed to stigmatise people who are outnumbered using a dog whistle to ignorant people, making it harder to educate.
RFK in USA suggested labour camps and removing meds for ADHD.
How would being diagnosed change things for you? Will knowing about these things change how you approach the challenges you face? Will it give you access to additional support or services?

Diagnosis can be validating if you know what to do with knowledge. It can also be overwhelming if you don’t.
It’s like string theory is real and our electrons are seeking their pair.
I met my now wife 19 years ago. We hit it off almost day 1. I was undiagnosed with ADHD at the time. My wife is undiagnosed but suspected Autistic (diagnosed in family members).
It’s amazing how often we are drawn together.
I love this. Emotional impulsivity can be such a pain. The worst is when your conscious brain is almost catching it in real time and you have that slightest feeling in the background that you’re overreacting, but it’s just not quite quick enough to block it.
Ha! I’ve been lucky enough to be working for the same company for 15 years now, and we’ve always used Google Drive for file storage. I have hundreds of “Untitled Sheet” , and a few dozen “Archive” folders where I decided on a clean slate.
Yea. That’s the worst part of it. Some days we just have to accept are write offs. There is little point trying to force it. That’s no different to teachers telling us to “concentrate more” or “be more disciplined”. No bloody shit Sherlock! I hadn’t considered just concentrating. Problem solved!
I share your pain! Roguelikes have helped me here. Things like Cult of the Lamb, Deadcells, Hades and Blue Prince. The constant dopamine hit of the next unlock, and the way I don’t need to remember complex plots and character arcs if I forget about it for months, or lose all interest for a while.
You’re not broken, you’re just designed for a world that isn’t ready for you.
ADHD also gives us superpowers. We are master problem solvers due to our brains literally processing so much more data at once. And our hyperfocus can blitz a week long task in a matter of hours.
More than likely it closed down due to insider trading on this info. We may not have known, but his folk certainly did.
This one makes me feel very sad 😔
I think it’s fair to say that most people consider “misleading” synonymous with “lie”, whether it’s grammatically accurate or not.

The guy is no saint, but honestly your take from this is to punch down rather than actually getting behind the fact that MSM (ish) actually called GOP out for once?
Today’s #humpday #haiku is a less silly one, but addresses an important issue that seems to be tearing through the western world right now. I’m UK based. The lack of human empathy saddens me.

Immigrants, go home
Not because I want you to
We don’t deserve you

It won’t be random. It is almost certain that all his crazy announcements are planned to make people very rich through insider trading and shorts. eg. People knowing this is coming would short IKEA stock. Price plummets with announcement. Shorters buy, “TACO” causes price to bounce back.
