Who knows???
Perhaps there were seated curiosity of sexual identity that was repressed/suppressed that they couldn’t quail.
But again, that is placing too much responsibility on everyone else to manage one’s one unchecked desires.
But if that even is a thought?

Also, point of fact on my part.
I purposefully photograph Full Frontal NonSexual in Homage to Michelangelo’s David.
I felt the Golden Garland and Fig Leafs covering the statue was what enriched the stigmatic impact.
I believe it induced male genitalia insecurity or penis envy and inadequacies…

The stigma is crazy. A Gallery owner that loves my normal works and I had a chat.
He stated, “It feels strange and uncomfortable looking at a naked man”.
I asked if he only watch lesbian porn. He said, “No”.
I asked, “Why can you watch a naked man in a sexual state, but not in an artistic state”? 🤓

Appreciate the engagement.
Ironically, I’ve had several “specifically male” viewers privately comment.
They are uncomfortable seeing male Nudes.
And I get it. It’s programming, human conditioning, mentally hardwiring and sexualizing naked figures and not allowing figure art to be just that.
