I saw a great post that vocalized my thoughts on the new Marathon game being an extraction shooter a lot better than I could. It boils down to, Marathon in complete honesty is not remembered for it's gameplay. Not that it's bad, it's an early example of tactical elements in first person shooters-

I know the Unicode number (2014 decimal, 7DE hex), so it's not like I can't input the code...

E33 definately deserved to win awards, But best indie seems a bit unfair considering it had much more budget and staff than others.
HLX being a no show was likely from day dot, so was TES VI.
