I’ve been trying to get back into the mindset of writing long form, so I’ve started a few more recurring series to help me structure my thoughts and thinking more:

- Monday Musings
- The Manager’s Playbook
- Shortcut Keys
- The Story Toolbox

See the thread below for more details and first posts!

Had a great time keynoting last week at #jsday 2025 in Bologna! It was my first time at this conference, and it was lovely.

My keynote was about developing resilience. We can all build our own emotional agility to be more aware of our emotions and create space between our feelings & our responses.

Want to tell better stories? You need the right tools.

I’m so excited to share that I’ve started: The Story Toolbox 🧰

It’s a new newsletter series to help you find, shape and share your stories, whether for speaking, writing, or everyday conversations.

I've been wondering how to reboot this newsletter/blog and share more useful content with you all. So, over the next few weeks, I'll be starting a few new recurring series. Starting with this one! We...

It's been a while since I wrote one of these Monthly Roundups, but it's been nice to take a step back and reflect on the past few months.

What have your highlights for the past few months been? I'd love to know what stories you've explored and loved 🫶

Monthly Roundup - March 2025
Oops. I did it again. It’s been 3 months since I last wrote something here. Time flies when you’re busy, and writing is an easy task to get the backseat. I can’t complain, though; it’s been a perfect...

I’m at #SotB2025 today! It’s been brilliant so far: so many good talks inspiring me to try out some stuff again. I really should take some time to build the game idea I have 🥰

Come say hi during the final break or afterparty if you’re here too and want to catchup!

It's time for another Monthly Roundup post!

www.seckington.com/monthly-roun...

I ended up missing the September and October ones, mostly cause of how hectic and challenging the past few months have been. But I'm happy that I got to catchup and write this.
Monthly Roundup - November 2024
Hello again. It's been a while. I didn't mean to not blog for 2 months, but it's been a busy and challenging few months. I always knew October would be extra busy cause of the amount I was travelling ...

This is why I love doing my workshops! It’s great to see attendees take what I’ve taught and put it into practice! Can’t wait to see what talk proposals they all come up with now.
The past few days I've been putting together ideas for a conference talk — prompted by a fantastic workshop from @mseckington.bsky.social.

I am SO excited y'all. This is the easiest and smoothest an idea has come together, really looking forward to seeing where it goes!

I love being able to organise regular karaoke evenings now with friends! Yesterday’s one was again so much.

I also can notice how much better my voice is getting, just by regularly singing for a few hours and not being afraid to just try different and unexpected songs.

I’ll be heading to the Fractional Consultant Community Unconference this evening! Anyone else I know attending?

The theme for this one is generating leads and overcoming constraints, so I’m looking forward to some interesting discussions.

This is a good reminder that not everyone is looking forward to thanksgiving and the holidays.

Some don’t like being with that many people; some have no family; some have no contact to family whether by their choice or not. This is not easy with all the norms.

Be kind to yourself and to others
Are we doing #JoinIn over here this year?

I enjoyed it over on the birdsite back in the day. If you're not familiar it was a hashtag people could use to have chats/get support/find joy over the holidays when they were alone (during lockdown), or generally found holidays difficult.

Struggling to write a talk proposal that gets noticed?

Here’s a tip we’ll cover in my upcoming workshop: focus on the key takeaways for your audience.

What is it that the audience will learn? Write your proposal with that framing in mind.

A quick reminder to start the week: Psychological safety is often misunderstood—it’s not about creating a permanent comfort zone 🛋️ for everyone in the team. Instead, it’s about fostering an environment where people feel safe enough to step out of their comfort zones.

Encouraged myself to get back to the gym today! Did a light 20 minute cycle and feels good to start it up again.

If you need some motivation to do so as well: you can do it!

If you’ve ever felt like the odd one out in tech, go see Wicked!

As a huge theatre geek, I’ve loved musicals all my life, and Wicked is one of my favourite shows. Having seen the movie version this weekend, I’m just so happy that more people get to see Elphaba’s story.

Started playing Deathloop yesterday and it’s exactly what I wanted from a Dishonored followup! Dishonored 2 is one of the few games I’ve played multiple times through, fully explored/unlocked everything and learnt how to speed run. And Deathloop leans into all those aspects in such a brilliant way!
