Wealth does trickle down....

But it gushes up.
I agree on that point (benefots/taxation) but I think/hope they will start to reverse that position soon.
He is far from perfect, and his positioning on immigration is probably the reason I wont vote for him next time round, but he is honest (as a politicians can be) and mostly competent and a lot better than most of the alternatives at present.
He is starting to.

But he can't do that on his own. Partly because he doesnt have the charisma to drag the UK along with him, and partly because he has the right wing press parked on his doorstep (figuratively) waiting for any excuse to crown Farage. Ditching Brexit would be perfect for them.
Nobody was prepared for Brexit.
Nobody was prepared for Trump.
Nobody was prepared for covid.
Nobody was prepared for the Ukraine war.
Nobody was prepared for Trump 2.

Labour didn't have the straight run at governing that they did previously. Fixing the mess from the Tories is going to be painful.
Even during Labour's current tenure, the Trump tariff nonsense has made any plans they had for governing obsolete.
They didn't have 14 years. During that time, Labour had 3 leaders, each with differing viewpoints. Also during that time, there were multiple world impacting events that would drastically change the course of any gov't, let alone the opposition.
Superb Hudson Hawk reference. The news rarely allows for such wonders.
Literal gibberish, and part of the reason this country (like the US before it) is going down the toilet.

Now I am starting to regret engaging you. Goodbye.
Never assumed you are. Just thought that pointlessly insulting people separately from a discussion is what you like.

Now have a good day.
His positioning on immigration is wholly wrong and damaging.

Still doesn't make him the same as Farage and Johnson.
Starmer is far from the same as Farage and Johnson.
It is purely because of the concerted right wing media campaign to portray Starmer and his party as damaging to the country.

We are 15 months into a gov't that seeks to reverse 14 years of damage inflicted by the last lot.

It was always going to get worse before it got better.

I think Starmer has been a huge disappointment. He’s been passive & cowardly. He’s not politically savvy either.

I also think he is a decent person and really wants to fix the country.

However, the hatred for him, almost universal in the country, is nothing short of radicalisation. It’s batshit!
I always thought there were bigger problems to solve than this. Then saw the estimated value of the collective royal estates.

Let William be the last King. Absorb the royal estates into the Treasury (not one of them earned it) and pay them off.
It'll be sarcasm until it isn't.

The only way to get anywhere in the Trump gov't is to fellate Trump's ego.

Sounds a lot like the court of Henry VIII.
I remember loving his wedding day. There was some nonsense about church on TV then I got to watch Herbie!
I'm no sycophant, they are useless and should be done away with ASAP. And I don't feel sorry for him. Just said I wouldn't swap my life for his in a million years.
I don't. He isn't free. Wouldn't swap his life for mine.

Dont get me wrong, the royal family should be wound up and the bulk of their property taken from them (they didn't earn it).
BBC News - Betfred says all its shops may close if Reeves hikes gambling tax
www.bbc.com/news/article...

Let's call this what it is. Economic blackmail.

"Don't tax us or people will lose jobs."

Meanwhile this parasitic industry leeches £billions each year in profits.

Tax them more.
Betfred says all its shops may close if Reeves hikes gambling tax
The company's co-founder says it would be forced to close all its sites, putting 7,500 jobs at risk, if gambling taxes go up.

Ironically, also in the UK where we have a literal King!

The Westminster chatterati’s perception of Birmingham is so utterly deranged by this point I’m actually sitting here laughing

The way people are talking about it you’d think it was some dystopia from the Hunger Games or something

Go outside, touch grass, come to Birmingham - you’ll be fine 😂
