A few years ago I began a documentary photography project on East Cliff in Whitby. There’s an overlook that has become the place where memorials and love locks are placed and I’ve been documenting it’s evolution and seasons. It’s a long term project and here are some of my winter/Christmas Day shots

A Jackdaw peeks out from a perfectly round hole in the weathered trunk of an old tree. Its sleek black feathers contrast with the rough, textured bark, and its pale eyes glint in the sunlight. The hollow frames the bird snugly... a cosy nook that looks preferable to any working Monday!

‘Brothers’ Fish Shop, Commercial Road’ 2002. Used to frequently pass this on way to Watney Market during the 80’s and 90’s but never tempted to venture in to buy anything. I’m not a vegetarian but the sight of those eyes………. Didn’t paint the facade until closed- hypocritical, I know. #art #painting
