Break out your Gore Tex tuxedo and a towel, it’s time for another race tomorrow. This time the it’s the Wirth Munroe Race and there’s a nice northerly building over the Gulf Stream in the forecast (again) to make this 60-miler another trip thru the car wash on our #class40, Velocity.

Finished the race yesterday in 18 hours and 22 minutes, pretty decent for ~200 sailing miles. Top speed I saw was 23.5 knots. Wet, windy and COLD conditions that made for some spectacular sailing. Here’s a few seconds of me driving.

We’re locked and loaded for the Sailor’s Choice Race on #class40 Velocity tomorrow. It’s a 166 nm race course starting and finishing in FLL, out to the Bahamas and back via Miami. Sporty conditions in the forecast, should be a pretty quick and lumpy race! #sailing

Good news for race day on Thursday: no hurricane in the forecast.
Less good news: northerly breeze will be making the 2 Gulf Stream crossings on the race course extra sporty.

Race day forecast (for the SORC Sailor’s Choice Race) currently looking much more survivable, that’s a relief.

Here are snapshots from the last four runs of the GFS weather model showing a hurricane landfall in Florida in the middle of next week. **IF** that happens, 2024 would tie the 1886 record with SIX hurricane landfalls on the U.S. Gulf coast. The next name on the list is #Sara.
