Primary Teacher, avid reader, nerd before it was cool
Couldn't agree more. So much of my SCITT had a secondary focus despite my being a primary trainee - the only primary focus was on phonics.

There's a specific challenge to bring a primary teacher which this captures well - not mentioning the parent contact secondary colleagues may not have

Big fan of this idea. Fits nicely into my brand of nerdy. That's another podcast into the weekly listen!
Listeners to Hammer House of Podcast will today have heard @lizbethmyles.bsky.social and I announce our sequel podcast, starting in January. Telefantasy Time Jump @telefantasytj.bsky.social will be about the history of UK SFF TV, starting in 1953 with The Quatermass Experiment! 1/3

I am firmly in the stop moaning camp - and I say this with the experience of having been in another career prior to teaching. Is teaching the hardest I've ever worked? Yes. Is it also the best career ever? Also, yes. Those in the profession who complain - the grass isn't always greener!
New episode and new feature!!

In STOTW one of us proposes a spicy take, and has to justify ourselves.

Did I manage to convince Amy this week?

Agree with some of this - not sure a ban is the answer. Would make my life easier though!. Better awareness by parents of the risks of these platforms is necessary though - schools having to deal with stuff that happens online is a nightmare and happening too often

Just posted new blog on Bluesky and not (yet) on Twitter. Be interesting to see engagement. Will I fold and put it on Twitter too? Please help me avoid the temptation by reposting here!

Great article - though I think wellbeing can look different depending on whether you're primary or secondary. Biggest thing is for schools to recognise that teachers have lives - something that the SLT in my school are very good at!

Agree with this - with the caveat that there needs to be the right culture around incorporating research rather than one, which is just 'Well that won't work'. It might not - only one way to find out! One of the things I love most about this gig is that there's always something new to try and learn.
