I’m not very good at self-promotion, but here’s a repost for the Sunday readers out there 🙂 There’s a claim that is being repeated more often of late that cyder was a different and superior drink to cider. In this long read (perfect with a cup of tea or a glass of cider) I debunk this modern myth.
Modern Myth-Busting: The Cyder Controversi
Barry debunks the myth that ‘cyder’ and ‘cider’ are different drinks, tracing the spelling history and enduring cultural heritage of cider.

Anyone know how to shut your brain off when you wake up worried in the night and your mind starts to prepare an article about the concern (in fact several tonight), apparently as a coping mechanism?

I've jotted down notes. Hopefully, that will be enough to encourage sleep after a restless few hours

Literally 10 minutes before I get off the train and I've just seen an ad on the carriage screen telling me they stock @redwillowbrewery.bsky.social on board.

Dammit. I would totally have gone for that, if I'd known.

Avanti Glasgow-Euston line, in case you were wondering.

Though I didn't know it at the time, one of the most useful life lessons I learned as an adult was the benevolent clap, when someone else wins an award you were also nominated for.

@neverenoughshoe.bsky.social taught me the skill and I feel it will be deployed on numerous occasions this evening.

Having to break the news to someone that their (adult) child has taken their own life is not the one, I can tell you. Would not recommend. I will now be shaking and sobbing for the rest of the day.

I delivered the 'porn or pony' (My Little Pony or adult film actor name) round with surprising professionalism in my pub quiz tonight until I had to clarify that Rainbow Dash is, in fact, spelled with a D, at which point I utterly lost it.

2.5 hours to write something is always a bit of a panic. Not sure how proper newspaper journalists cope with doing it every day.

I guess Extreme Housewifery is 17 years old now. So that's a bit mad.
