Covid is surging yet again in LA county and it’s still market season. As the sole person behind my shop I am begging y’all to be serious about masking. Covid is disabling. It also further harms disabled, high risk, and immunocompromised folks. (1/2)

The thing about so many of these people is that fascism is here and they haven't adjusted ANY of their ideas or thinking. Still writing the exact same pablum. It's sad, really.

Another weekend, another market recap while it’s fresh in my mind:
1) Bringing dog treats to dog friendly events is now a must. What a delight to meet cute pups all day!
2) I need a sign for the free candy at my booth. People kept thinking that I’m selling haw flakes. 😂

Recapping this weekend’s market while it’s fresh in my mind. Some highlights in no particular order:
1) Masks offered and highly encouraged.
2) Had some cute dogs visit my booth. Should remember to bring dog treats to any dog friendly event.

It’s market season for small biz/artists. Almost every market I look at does not have masks required or any covid precautions in place. I’m always masked and I bring free n95 masks for customers. I am always masked. I’m doing what I can. But god, I wish organizers were doing something…anything.

Uday has since turned 18, but his dreams of studying at university remain. He and his family need $150 a month to pay for the newly restored electricity in their area. Uday plans to attend university online, so access to electricity is crucial. If you can help visit tinyurl.com/udayfund (art by me)

Atlanta police have set up secret surveillance cameras outside of Stop Cop City activists' houses and gathering spots––and they refuse to answer any questions about the cameras

Cameras have appeared outside homes of Atlanta’s ‘Cop City’ activists. Why are they there?
Cameras are hidden in unmarked boxes on utility poles in a move residents and advocates call ‘creepy’ and ‘corrosive’

I wrote about managing overwhelm during these times and about practices that can help us regulate our emotions on our own and in our organizing groups.
Managing Overwhelm Amid Trump's Chaos
To fight the inhumanity of our enemies, we must nurture our own humanity, and cherish what makes our existence meaningful and worthwhile.

Some ways I deal with overwhelm (as empire crumbles): garden, play with my dog, shake my body…and most recently, play a mobile game where the whole point is just to sort objects together lol. That little hit of dopamine I get when everything is sorted is *chef’s kiss*. How’s everyone else dealing? 🥲

Overheard while walking my dog in an upper middle class neighborhood (where I only go to take poop bags lol): “I went to the grocery store to buy eggs. I bought 4 dozen. I don’t really need them, but it feels like we have to stock up like we did with toilet paper.”

A few of my favorite moments from my first 2025 market:

- Meeting folks who knew about Moonymade because of my Free Palestine fundraiser blanket

- A little girl resonating with my “have you eaten yet” comrade lucky cat sticker because “my mom ALWAYS asks me this!”

Happy LNY from 18MR!🧧🐍

Let this year of the wood snake be one where we shed old skins that no longer serve us and adapt to whatever comes our way. Just like how snakes have scales to protect themselves, may we also rely on our community, our allies, and our ancestors, to keep each other safe💚
