Self portraiat 1933: Vilho Henrik Lampi (July 19, 1898 – March 17, 1936) was a Finnish painter who is best known for his self-portraits and paintings of Liminka and the people who lived there. Lampi committed suicide on March 17, 1936, by jumping from a bridge to Oulujoki while visiting in Oulu.

Born on December 8, 1886 in Mons, Belgium, Anto Carte apprenticed to the studio of painter Frantz Depooter for 14 years, and received his formal training at the Academy of Mons and Brussels. He began calling himself Anto Carte and in 1928 helped to form the Expressionist painting group Nervia.
