Bucharest Pride was absolutely amazing today! Tens of thousands showed up for a massive march despite the heat, a stand against nationalist fascism, a bullet Romanians managed to dodged not even two weeks ago. So many also chanted against genocide, I had tears in my eyes πŸ₯²πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ΈπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ
I've been craving it for a few days, today I got around to making it: creamy rice pudding with cardamom, lime zest and rose water, foraged wild cherries in light syrup, and seasonal flowers (honeysuckle, mallow, linden and cornflower).

For some doing a nice plating just for yourself is loosing time, but that’s now part of my daily routine (almost). I treat my time in kitchen as a break from work & my usual worries & just create with no purpose other than to treat myself like I deserve a fine dining meal. Is it pretentious? 🫣
Those balls are quite big, close to arancini size, so for me three were enough. Also, I had dessert too :))
Another rainy day, half spent proofreading, then an hour of decompressing in the kitchen:

Mallow leaves stuffed with wild mushrooms (Cerioporus & Pleurotus), green onion, green garlic and millet, served with pink semolina porridge made with kefir and beetroot puree. Mallow flowers, wild thyme and dill-infused oil as garnish.

Wandering in the rain. No people, but a lot of activity.
We went to sleep late last night after an evening of frantic refreshing the news pages for elections’ final result, and we’ve been sleepy all day, so I took my dog to the park to just lay in the grass. Mock strawberry πŸ“ as a bonus, it looks so yummy but tastes like cardboard.
Romania just dodged a very close bullet and in a spectacular turnaround voted massively for the pro-European candidate over the sinister Trumpist one. People are now celebrating in the streets and I can finally go to sleep after two weeks of anxiety… πŸŽ‰πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί

Woke up at 7am to go vote and kept myself busy the rest of the day to not succumb to the general anxiety about the outcome of this election 🀞

We had a big scare with my friend's dog who had a vestibular syndrome attack on Sunday night, but after an MRI and 3 days of hospitalization he is now better and finally back with us and I'm so grateful πŸ₯²
Okra is part of my Balkan heritage. I used to hate them but I also want to embrace the idea of old foods, so I kept trying them sparsely until I found I kinda love them roasted. Worth a try :))
Every time I cook okra (not often), I remember a bit from a fic where Beatrice hated okra and it always makes me chuckle.

Bean, onion & kapia pepper mash, topped with salsa verde, roasted okra and wild oyster mushrooms and wild garlic ”capers”.

Rainy morning out in nature. We got soaked, but it was worth it.
Yesterday I finished a job that took months. W/out that stress, I suddenly feel like in vacation. And after a shitty week, today I took time w/ my lunch & made something I've been craving: vol-au-vent. With a creamy filling from leftover shrooms, leek & radish greens.
