Spielberg is also one of the best producers to ever do it. He was personally responsible for John Patrick Shanley’s insanely surreal fairy tale JOE VERSUS THE VOLCANO getting made at all, and giving Shanley the tools to make the best possible version of the movie that could have been made.

Sorry, Baby is number 5 on my 2025 top ten. It’s not a bucket of popcorn good time Saturday night but it’s one of the best adult dramas I’ve seen in years. Hope Eva Victor makes 50 more movies. Don’t ask me about Hamnet tho. My device glowed red & singed my fingers while reading this Rob report.

I know nobody needs my endorsement of the late great Udo Kier, but BACURAU was my number one favorite movie of 2020 and is definitely worth your time. It’s a surreal neo-western that is both a pip of an action thriller and a movie that has something important to say.

This may be the coziest trailer for the coziest month of movies at the @newbeverly.bsky.social. My wife and I have never seen While You Were Sleeping in a theater together and we could perform every part of shadow cast for it. But we’d probably fight over who go to do Joe Jr., so we will refrain.

I just saw THE MINOR KEY a new horror short by @lucaswiththelidon.bsky.social debut at the LA International Film Festival at The Million Dollar Theater and holy crap do movies of all lengths play so much better on a HUGE screen. Way to go Lucas!!! #theminorkey
