We have been busy validating the peripherals and interfaces on the @particleiot.bsky.social Tachyon EVT units. This is me “testing” the SPI interface.

So far, I have a Spotify now-playing info fetcher, an Instagram photo streamer, and voice controlled radar and weather data display!
I ended up sawing off the “non-essential” portion of the PCB and resoldered the LCD at a right angle to suite my needs. Sorry Joey!
The board includes full documentation printed right on the back. I’ve been searching for a low-power LCD for my solar-powered sculptures, and this might be the perfect fit. It consumes just 20uA and has all the right symbols for the job. ⚡🌞
Take a look at this stunning LCD SAO (Silly Add-On) board designed by the brilliant Joey Castillo @joeycastillo.bsky.social, the creator of the Sensor Watch project! Joey was kind enough to give me this board at last year’s @hackaday-feed.bsky.social Supercon. 🌟
The utility boxes are the Plano 3700 series that I bought about 8 years ago on a sale.
Gorgeous day for making saw dust. I repurposed some old plywood for making a freestanding shelving unit for the Plano utility boxes.
Thanks! It's visible only from the front.

This was a fun project! A Particle Photon 2 connects over Wi-Fi to retrieve the day’s weather forecast, sunrise and sunset times, and wind conditions, displaying everything on an @adafruit 170x320 TFT screen.
An old USB-C phone dock makes for a perfect programming/charging station for this little lander! 🚀
Oh no! Sorry about that!
I designed the layout in illustrator and used it to create the static background. The text and graphics are all dynamic. I’m using a Particle Photon 2 which is connected over WiFi. All of the data is fetched using webhooks!
Running some test animations on the latest lander sculpture. I had to time box myself this weekend to work on the console design, otherwise I can spend countless hours tweaking and redesigning it 😅

OMG that is incredible 🤩! Thank you for sharing and being an awesome uncle!
Made some progress last night. Added a PDM microphone, battery, and legs!
Thank you! Yes, 20 AWG brass. You can also use copper of the same gauge.
Thanks! So far it has been an entire Saturday afternoon. I will resume working on it next weekend.
Creating a little pocket in the back where the battery will go.
Using simple fixtures and paper templates to align the frame.
New sculpture in the making! Using @adafruit.com 170x320 TFT display and pairing it with a Particle Photon 2
