Chasing OV: I'm tracking Auston Matthews' scoring pace vs. Alexander Ovechkin's career totals with updates every 10 games.

As of March 29th, 2025 (620 GP):

Matthews' lead on Ovechkin continues to shrink, from a high of +27 at the 580-game mark to +9 now (also down from last update's +11).
Leafs lose their fifth straight. And yes, they blew another third period lead. But that was one of their most consistent, hard-working efforts of the season.

That’s boarding!

Cowan could have a hat trick tonight.

Unreal goal by Teuvo.

Myers and Rielly looked horrible there.

Joshua-Lorentz-Jarnkrok has been buzzing all night and giving the Hawks fits. Love the hustle.
November 16, 2025 at 2:23 AM
Can’t believe we’re less than a quarter of the way through the season and Morgan Rielly has already lost his PP1 gig. So much for a resurgence.
November 16, 2025 at 1:27 AM
I’m conflicted: Robertson’s been one of the Leafs’ best, hardest-working forwards this season. You don’t want to lose that from a roster that doesn’t have much of that.

But might this be the peak of his value?

The McMann-Domi-Maccelli line is nightmare fuel.
November 16, 2025 at 12:59 AM
Awful look for Maccelli there on the Greene goal. I get that you’re tired, but fuck, man, dig deep.
November 16, 2025 at 12:44 AM
If Laughton and Carlo were healthy we could have seen three wastes of Leafs first round picks in tonight’s game.
November 16, 2025 at 12:32 AM
Leafs/Hawks games are always track meets. Expecting 9+ goals.

Prior post gave me some inspiration: a view of how the Leafs are faring in various metrics to this point in the season, how those results measure up against 2024-25 teams, and the playoff fates of those 2024-25 teams.

It's not great ATM!

With enough interest I could keep this updated regularly.

"The sky isn't falling. First place in the Atlantic is four points away."

Context:
- There's six teams between the Leafs & first
- They're also four points out of last
- They've earned four out of a possible 14 points vs. divisional foes
- 25th in points %, 30th in CF%, 23rd in GF%, 27th in xGF%

Fifteen shots. 😆
November 14, 2025 at 2:38 AM
The Leafs are winning, which is great, but through 39 minutes they haven’t hit double digits in shots. This is not a winning recipe over the long term.

I am terrified of having Treliving at the helm at this crossroads for the Leafs. Incoming Nylander for Kadri + Andersson trade.

Through 17 games, the San Jose Sharks have more points than the Toronto Maple Leafs.

“Hey guys, I know you’re all highly-skilled puck handlers who aren’t physical but what if we buried you in the defensive zone and played dump and chase?”
November 12, 2025 at 1:22 AM
Treliving’s gonna panic trade Nylander to try to solve this.
November 12, 2025 at 1:14 AM
Stolarz hasn’t been the same since he lost faith in his teammates having his back.
November 12, 2025 at 12:44 AM
1 shot through 12 mins.

This is a recording.

Leafs could have had this guy this summer.
COMEBACK COMPLETE ✅

Jack Roslovic wins it for the /EdmontonOilers in a thrilling /Energizer OT!
November 11, 2025 at 4:59 AM
This team is so, so, so, so, SO bad in their own zone. It’s pathetic.
November 10, 2025 at 2:50 AM
Tonight’s game vs Carolina feels like a Guaranteed Loss Night: CAR is the league’s best possession team (59.1 CF%) with a 5th-best expected goals rate (55.5 xGF%) & 4th-best actual goals rate (58.6 GF%) at 5v5. TOR are 24th, 17th, & 21st in those metrics. Gonna be outshot by 20+. Our poor goalie.
