Asked after Game 5 if he wishes to return to the Cubs, Kyle Tucker said, "We'll see what happens."

In the Cubs' 8 playoff games, he went 7-for-27 (.259) with one home run, one RBI, five walks and five strikeouts.

Among the variety of not fun things being without a car since getting rear ended and my vehicle totaled: ordering groceries for delivery from Jewel, the delivery being picked and then stolen by the driver 🙃

Cubs manage only four hits and bow out of the playoffs with a 3-1 loss to the Brewers on Saturday in Game 5 of the NLDS.

"Why couldn't we get anything going? It's hard to get past that right now," manager Craig Counsell said.

@mmontemurro.bsky.social reporting from Milwaukee.
Chicago Cubs’ season ends with a 3-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 5 of the NLDS

This Cubs season ends with a 3-1 loss to the Brewers in Game 5 of the NLDS.

All four runs in tonight's game came on solo homers. Cubs pitchers couldn't finish off at-bats/innings as the Brewers' three homers all were with 2 outs.

The opportunity Cubs wasted in the top of the 6th inning will sting.

Turang has the ballpark rocking as he takes Kittredge deep for a solo homer to put the Brewers up 3-1 in the 7th.

And that's where a bullpen game can hurt Cubs. They didn't have another lefty available for that pocket of Brewers lineup after using Pomeranz as the opener and Thielbar previous inning

If the Cubs lose this game, they will lament the top of the 6th.

Put first two hitters on and then Tucker (strikeout swinging), Suzuki (line out) and Happ (strikeout looking) can't bring them home.

Suzuki's line out to Chourio in LF was a little unlucky: 101.6 mph exit velo, .500 expected average

Daniel Palencia and William Contreras have a stare down after Palencia is fired up watching Nico Hoerner turn Contreras' line out into an inning-ending double play by doubling up Chourio at 1B.

Palencia gets the job done, getting Joey Ortiz to hit into an inning-ending force out.

Craig Counsell has talked about how Daniel Palencia has been a "fireman" mid-game closer for the Cubs this postseason.

Palencia is coming into a huge spot in relief of Rea: bases loaded and two outs in the 4th as Cubs try to keep the Brewers' lead at 2-1.

Colin Rea left an 88 mph cutter down the middle and Andrew Vaughn sent it over the LF wall.

Colin Rea is back out for the bottom of the 4th as Shota Imanaga starts to warm in the bullpen.

Cubs-Brewers tied at 1.

Colin Rea touching nearly 96 mph with his fastball out of the bullpen, avg +1.4 mph. He's feeling it tonight:

Seiya Suzuki ties the game with a homer off a Misiorowski 101.4 mph fastball to begin the 2nd.

Sounds like there are more Cubs fans here than for the first two games.

The team that has scored first this NLDS is 1-3.

Game 4 featured the lone win when the Cubs opened the scoring in the first inning.

Drew Pomeranz had retired 17 consecutive hitters to begin this postseason. William Contreras ends that streak by taking him deep on a full-count fastball to give the Brewers a 1-0 lead in the 1st.

For first time in the NLDS, Cubs do not score a run in the 1st inning vs. the Brewers. Trevor Megill retires them in order.

Cubs need Drew Pomeranz to counter with a 0.

Counsell pregame: "I think both sides are kind of acknowledging that the 1st inning has been a pretty big inning in this series."

Most consecutive outings of at least an inning with no baserunners allowed to start a postseason:

2025 Drew Pomeranz: 5 *active
2020 Mark Melancon: 5
2017 Kenta Maeda: 5

Rather fitting that the first postseason meeting between Cubs-Brewers comes down to Game 5 tonight. They have been evenly matched the entire season.

In 17 games against each other, including the postseason, Cubs have won 9 games, Brewers have won 8. Total runs scored: Cubs 76, Brewers 75

Cade Horton threw an up-down-bullpen today and it went very well, Counsell said. How Horton feels tomorrow will be important.

“It was a really positive day.”
