The way the story is written as some sort of personal memoirs recording with him sometimes addressing the tau that will hear it, and he still keeps making little remarks about Skilltalker throughout the story...... Jathen is a certified yearner I fear

Like throughout the story u can catch Jathen making so many remarks about Skilltalker's features from the face to the eyes to even his TEETH!!? even admits he 'always think about them' (the teeth, his grazer's teeth)
down to the feeling of his hands and skin ('we're more tactile than you') ohhhh
