hi I'm mitsu (he/him), I draw as a hobby. about 95% self-taught, been drawing for a very long time. mostly draw oc's and fan characters, but draw other things as well. I'm open to art trades (may take a long time though) and looking for fellow oc artists and fans

these are two of my school-age oc's who are best friends; they are fujiko (she/her) and sofia (she/her). fujiko is transgender and adopted from qwtc0ke on deviantart; sofia was adopted from yessiemaltese on bluesky

and here are the last two chibis for the ota art payment; got 4 new oc's out of this. these are mathilda (she/her) and lilian (he/him), both owned by jolsma on toyhouse and deviantart

-viewpoint to consider. if you still believe AI image generation is considered "art", then I'll just conclude by saying we should agree to disagree. too old and tired to fight and argue it lol. and it's almost 4:30am, I need to go to bed 😂
-"art" and I'm not an artist. because I'm not one; I'm a marketer and a writer.

that aside, people will argue and argue over what is considered "art" and what isn't, and will never come to an agreement because it's human nature. would rather not argue here either, just bring up a different-
-and sell them; that's illegal. rather hard to say something is "art" when it's stolen from others and then some try to turn a profit on it, eh?

but yes, although there is an actual definition of "art", what is truly considered "art" is up to the individual. it's why I say my drawings aren't-
if you look at it from another angle, as you'd mentioned in a previous post, AI programs "scrape" websites and take artwork that people have worked on, then assemble it into an image based on the AI user's keywords. that's art theft, plain and simple. there are also people who generate AI images-
my introductory post seems to have disappeared, so here it is again. not really a "meet the artist" when I'm not an artist lol, just gotta use the tags for lack of anything better

I appreciate it, really. had an online friend tell me they had POTS and I didn't know what it was, so looked it up. they were really happy that I did, too. but it's best to learn about things affecting friends and not speak or act in ignorance 😌
no worries; it's 4pm here so way too early for bed lol. I'm never in a hurry for replies either. if I find anything, I'll dm it to you, if that's okay.

I will say it's a good idea to keep an open mindset and question everything; don't do what's "cool" and follow the figurative crowd.
I've tried digital drawing - still have my tablet - but it's too hard and I don't have much control with the drawing since I can't look down at it. kinda hard to explain. I taught myself to draw traditionally, long before digital drawing was a thing, and greatly prefer it.
it's osetoarthritis so not as bad as rheumatoid. usually ok most of the time but if I do something like draw a lot, it makes my hand or wrist hurt. sometimes my fingers go numb. but I've a special glove I wear that gives some compression and warmth, which helps a lot. but can still have pain with it
haven't really seen anyone passing off their AI images as "art", and if they do, their comments are full of AI haters; the poster never replies. I think pro-AI people are largely staying quiet but still use it to generate images. check out deviantart to see AI "art" and possible buzzwords about it.
some of it is genuine hatred but a lot of it is just trying to be cool and fit in. when I see people only using the word "slop" to describe it, I know it's just a buzzword they're using to sound cool. look at pro-AI "art" users and you'll see them using buzzwords like that as well.
ah, I'm glad you like my traditional art. I highly prefer it over digital drawing. haven't been sharing too many of my sketches lately but will try to do so soon 👍
it's okay, no worries~ but yes, everything I draw is done traditionally; I never draw digitally. it's pencilled and inked on paper, then scanned, cleaned up and coloured digitally. and add a background I find online that can be used without a licence or what-have-you.
when it comes to AI, I'm generally quite neutral unless someone uses it to generate an image and post it online, claiming it's "art". it isn't. but I'm not going to attack them and use buzzwords like everyone else, just feel disappointed and move on. pretty easy, really 💁‍♂️
thank you. tbh I have a lot of anger issues but have been working on overcoming them. it's not worth getting really mad about most things, and I've learnt to look at things from all possible angles before drawing a conclusion. really helps to understand things a lot better that way.
it's why I generally refrain from any such discussions online, though recently asked on my fb about AI and didn't really get any relevant responses. and no one had sources to back up their claims either. researching it gave me nothing as well, quite disappointing.
no problem~ I know attempting to discuss any topic that's deemed "controversial" in this day and age makes it really hard to have a decent conversation about it, especially online. people love spewing hatred towards something they don't like and not care about who they may be hurting in the process.
-hatred and backlash. it's like that for any controversial topic. but you can always block the haters and trolls; it's best to not interact with them.
it's kind-of a two-way problem. the anti-AI crowd don't really have legit sources as to why it's so bad (except "art", there are sources on that); conversely, AI companies aren't transparent about possible sustainability. or lack thereof.

if you wish to talk about using AI, be prepared to face-
here's part 2 of the ota art payment; all oc's pictured belong to jolsma on toyhouse and deviantart. in order, their names are cassandre, seglan and hortense
