So like in different cultures those beings may have developed different identities or ways of relating to or interacting with humans. Call them gods or spirits or fairies or whatever you like, they've been alongside humans as long as humans have been alongside them. They've advanced at about the-

In general they're really just "beings able to harness a fundamental building block of the universe", "beings made of flesh and blood that contain that building block of the universe within their bodies", and "beings made when too much of that building block collects in one place"

Are demons the way they are because it's inherent to them, or have they adopted the popular cultural idea of demons into their being because that's what humans believe them to be? Who's to say? Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Amaranth is funny because she's like, very invested in Humanity As a Philosophical Concept. She loves humans SO much & believes in humans SO much that he has kinda righteousness about it. Champion of humanity. He'll protect them from Themselves if they need it. He's kind of fervent in her devotion

They mostly exist as a friendly stranger to everyone in passing on earth, and because they're very content in their own company (so long as there's something to read, and There Always Is, humans write SO much and they have SO much to catch up on-) they can exist Mostly alone like that for decades

And they tend to think very broadly about humans in their views of them, like, they think of themselves as separate from humans but living among them studying their culture like an anthropologist HAHAHA. They're very interested in humans but do not want to directly interfere with anyone's lives, so

Asphodel has a way Broader Picture look at humans because they're primarily connected to them through their literature and culture, so they never have one deep relationship with any human but many small fleeting relationships in daily life with lots of them. They tend to see humanity as A Community

Which has given him a very like.... HAHAHA I can literally only describe it as having humans he has relationships with is like a weird hobby. He just does it for fun and enrichment, there will be long stints of time he doesn't deeply interact with humans, & then he'll miss them and get one on a whim
