##socialdeterminantsofhealth are powerful. I have patients who can't afford their medication, new shoes, or are homeless. Of course, these things affect their healing rates and their mental health. I wish everyone had a level playing field.

Many plantations in the south have been repurposed, and their true history erased. I will not tour their grounds or ever support them. If we had tackled our horrendous history head-on, I believe we would not be in this pickle so many years later.

This week, I've been grieving the loss of a student found hanging from a tree on a Mississippi campus. I'm doing what I can to narrow the disparities of health in my community, but there are times like this where it feels like a drop in the bucket.
