Finished reading “Bokutachi no Shitai Sagashi” and it’s a nice quick read, only has 4 vols. It’s like one of those movies where kids set out for something innocent and then stumble upon something (really) bad. There were some parts that could have used more depth, but for its length it was good.
And just now, I finished volume 1 of “Phantom Busters” and it’s still very early on, so I can’t say much, but for now it’s entertaining and I want to see how it develops. I’ll read the next volume when it comes out, too.
Watched “Green Legend Ran” yesterday. I actually watched this on tv when I was a teenager aeons ago. I do like old sci-fi anime, they have a very unique feel to them. It would have been be cool if there had been more than 3 ovas, so we could dive deeper into the story/world, but I still like it.
Even though it’s not that old, I feel like “Doukyusei” is kind of a classic by now? Home is more of a short story collection, but I liked all the vignettes a lot. They are really warm but also have this sense of melancholia attached? I liked the short story with Kusakabe and his das a lot.
I’m still not sure if I like this series to be honest. I don’t mind it, really, but I’m also not super invested? Idk, I guess I’ll give it a few more volumes…
At this point, I can’t tell if I find Hibari annoying or realistic. A lot of what she does is triggered by outside influence and she is only ever confident if some other person validates her. On one hand, that’s annoying, but on the other, there are a lot of people like that, especially at that age.

I have a long weekend and 13 volumes of manga, maybe more if I like any of the first volumes, but I think I can make it work? Maybe..?
“Shimazaki in the Land of Peace” is always such quick reads, which sucks because I want more of it!! I said it a hundred times already, but I really enjoy this series. I’m looking forward to seeing how the relationship between Shimazaki and the kid turns out and how it changes them both.
Every time I read a volume of “Pink Candy Kiss”, I’m hoping for a glimpse into Ema’s mind. What is she thinking? What is she doing with Takara? What is she doing with Hario? Is she stringing them along on purpose or does she just not realize? I really need some answers please! 🙏
I always fall for the cover art when it comes to Seina Anji and then I end up disappointed because the story is never really my thing… everything happened too quickly in this one and it was sadly really cliche, so yeah, not going to continue this series…
Finally finished “Phantom Tales of the Night” and I guess I would have been fine not reading it? There were moments when I enjoyed it, but for the majority of time, I wasn’t invested. I did not feel engaged enough to want to think through the ideas I was presented with and that’s not good… :\

The extras at the end of the “Phantom Tales of the Night” volumes are really fun(ny) and meta. I wish there was more of that in the main story.
Fuyuki was also really cute in this volume? Really cuddly, it was really sweet.
I wasn’t so sure about this series after vol 1, mostly because I got so mad at Eri, but after vol 2 I really like it! The angst is angsting, but I also really like Fuyuki and her girlfriend. I like how honest they are with each other and what they want from their relationship.
This series really puts me through the ringer. I feel exhausted after reading this volume. But in a good way, where you feel challenged and you are really emotionally involved in the story. I really hope more people will pick up this series because it feels really important and educational, too.
I‘m kind of sad that this one fell flat for me. Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood, but it felt superficial to me? I understand logically why the characters ended up together, but I didn’t really feel it? I guess a slower pace would have been better to give the story more room to breathe.
Sidenote: I really like stories that have giant statues or the like, that no one really knows anything about, like the four gods in this or the giant in the sky in “Gachiakuta”, too.
Vol 1 of “Land” was pretty good! The story was interesting and I especially liked the world building. There are also questions on social structure/hierarchy and who decides who gets to live and who dies. It’s all done very well and I’m looking forward to the next one.
My TBR has multiplied over the last week… oh, well, at least I won’t run out of stuff to read for a while…
“Call the Name of the Night” was a very lovely and whimsical read and look at anxiety and self-acceptance through the (fantasy) illness of the mc.
I thought the first vol could have been structured better and I didn’t like a minor character (Cartos), but apart from that it was a really nice read.
Obviously, it’s has very dark subject matter and about The Walking Dead levels of gore, so not too bad, but I can see why it wouldn’t be for everyone. Anyway, I liked the story and the suspense, so I had fun with it.
Finished “Gannibal” and I thought it was quite good. At the end of each volume there was always something that made me want to keep going and I couldn’t stop reading. The story also was really consistent and I didn’t feel like there was anything that was unnecessary and could have been left out.
Resentful that I have work tomorrow because I want to keep reading “Gannibal” (it’s really good).
I read the first 3 vols of “Gannibal” and turns out I liked it. I thought it would be really graphic because of the covers, but it wasn’t really. So far, it feels more like a crime/mystery manga than horror. Reminds me of “Lonely Deaths Lie Thick as Snow” which I also like. I’ll keep reading it!
